Are there people, who can play without the freezing?

Post » Sun Apr 11, 2010 5:12 am

Hi @all.
I′m wondering if there are people you can play New Vegas on ps3 without all the freezing problems, or if the problems occur at anyone.

Because if there are people without the problems, they maybe could post their configuration, ps3 model... so that others could compare it.
I red a lot in this forum the last couple of days and some people also formatted the ps3, installed again and still had the freezing problem, so it has to be the ps3 itself to cause the problem, or am i wrong?

I have to say, that i have not bougth the game yet, because of all the problems...but I want to because Fallout 3 was really great. But I played this one on PC without greater problems!
So if everybody has problems on ps3, i maybe should buy it for pc...

Before patch 1.01 came out I was able to play it without any problems. while my friends froze up every 2 hours. since the patch i've had 1 freeze up.

i freeze up, but its only after an extented (est. 2 hours) period of time in which i play. when you start to quick freeze, (entering a new area takes 1-2 secs to load) its time to save your game, quit your game, and load up again. seems theres to much information thats not being dumped or the systems cant handle the amount of map ajustments (kill some1/ move something and its still at the same coordinates for a few days x hundreds of items = lots to remember, adjust and load))

either way deff try that trick works really well for me and hopefully it will work for you.

Well, I've only had 2 freezes during 30+ hours gameplay so right now it feels like a non issue for me at least. Hope the next patch will fix the problems others are having.

I'm at about 40 hours in, 9 freezes, and this doesn't include the numerous irritating glitches I've encountered. Generally when it freezes I put the game down and switch to something else. It also doesn't seem to matter how long I've been playing - I think playing for an extended time just gives more opportunity for it to happen, as I've already had this happen 15 minutes into a session. I'm pretty damn sure I'll never be able to go through this game again without flipping out, so I'm probably selling it as soon as I beat it because of this. I'm playing on a 250GB Slim. I don't see any reason the PS3 model would make a difference - The issue is too prevalent on all platforms.

60 gb launch, froze all the time (now dead due to FNV, and being brought back to life-$120 down the drain). Before the patch, it would freeze once in awhile, but became noticeably worse after the patch. Fallout 3 was the same way, froze often. None of my other games freeze on me.

I often get freezes when I go to the Vegas area. I'm also likely to get a freeze if I'm in or around The Thorn, Red Rock Canyon and Camp Hope. I have 40gb PS3 with new patch installed. Pretty sure the freezing happened without the patch as well though.

I'm at the point today where it seems the console will freeze up (video freeze, sound playing) every time I'll enter combat. I can run around the wasteland and kill a lone gecko or so, anything more than that and it'll lock up.

Game just got unplayable.

Fun.

I have only had one complete lock up (after about 2.5 hours of playing), but what i do get from time to time is a freeze for about one second every minute for a little bit. Usually when crossing a wide open area (middle of the desert for example). BUT, it's not nearly as bad as F3:GOTY for PS3 was. That game was broken. Horribly horribly broken.

I am using a week old 120g ps3 slim that has nothing bullt fallout new vegas installed on it. I get freezes as early as 15 mins of playing, sometimes I can get away with a half hour or so. I am uninstalling this game and giving it to someone I dislike so they can deal with the torture. Loved fallout 3, love this one when I dont have to reset it every 15 minutes and its not from an hour or to into the game its been days into it. Bethesda failed at this one.

This pos game now won't play 5 minutes without freezing, regardless of what/where I do/go. It was [censored] from the get-go, first crash with in 10 minutes of installing, but at times I could play for hours without a problem. I'm almost ready to take it back for a refund, assuming eb will buy a disk full of programming errors...

The thread is directing the correct way but there are two problems the first, which is a bit of a achilles heel for me, I do not like the Poll because people saying 'Yes' does nothing but proportionalise the ratio of Yes/No of succesful plays of NV. The 'Yes' does not help anyone, from a critical support perspective.
The second problem is largely at hand with the game itself. As with FO3 there is really no replication of these crashes; freezes because in exploration they seem to happen irrespective of the location. I myself can vouch for this, although one particular crash happened around a general area - by general I mean Goodsprings...

It is clear from the proportion of non-loading freezes or crashes that the location is irrelevant - to a degree that is - meaning it is more likely a handling problem between the game and the PS3. I have partaked in a similar thread;discussion and discovered that the slim newer generations of PS3 have a higher plateau of playing before they crash - i.e more game time. This is opposed to some older generation PS3s that players have said have crashed literally on the first zone.

Repeated and continuous freezing before 1.01 was released, since the patch have probably an additional 60 hour of game play logged with only an occasional freeze after several hours of playing.
