Male vs Female headgear

Post » Sun Jun 02, 2013 6:37 pm

One of the things I find strange is how some of the headgear are completely different when worn by different genders. Take for instance the ancient Nord helmet, the males get your typical Nordic helm with horns curving downward while the females get a unique looking antler helmet that is quite similar to that of the Baratheon helmet from Game of Thrones. You also got the Forsworn headdress which is basically a deer's head hide for the males while being a feather decorated hair design on the female

Do you think Bethesda should make all the headgear look the same with both genders or should they make them different sometimes like those examples mentioned above and would your opinion be the same regarding armor?

They should have more variation, as in, the ability to pick either gender helmet.

I like the female Ancient Nord Helmet.

Same variety, but I wish both genders got access to them. If a dude wants to wear some feathers in his hair, let him.

Men and women have different bodies so armor should be a bit different haha.

As for headgear...I think its cool that they look different (would be kinda boring if everything was the same imo).

It's not just helms. It's the same with armor. Females often get very different-looking armor than males. I agree with the others: keep the variations but allow both sixes access to them.

So males should also have access to those Forsworn bikinis...?

Why not? I don't see a problem. If somebody else wants to put female armor on a male character (or vice versa) in the privacy of his or her own game, what's it to me?

Different armor variations absolutely. I LOVE the way an Orcish helm looks on Serana, it's very sixy. There should be a wide variety to choose from for male and female as well as mix and match like in Oblivion. If I'm outfitting a female follower I should be able to dress her up... or down as I see fit. Skyrim isw a more extensive game than Oblivion but has much less variety in armor combinations. I hop ethey change it back in TEs VI.

I'd be against that. Sure, more armor variations sounds cool 'n all, but cross dressing doesn't, in fact that'd only serve to agitate me, knowing developer time was actually spent on that.

To be brutally honest... It just sounds plain stupid, and is morally deviant, at least from my viewpoint.

I don't mind gender specific helmets. I find it interesting, but there should be both kinds of options for both genders.

Doesn't really bother me though. I just rock circlets or hoods on every one of my characters.

I'm more bothered by the ridiculous boob-plates in steel plate and ebony armors. Not only they look silly but they are also impractical since they do not deflect hits like the male "pyramid" style does.

i hate ulfrics clothes on females. its just a fur trimmed cloak, pleated shoes and bugged bracers.
ulfrics clothes on males looks really good.

Yeah, I'd agree with this too. Also more variations! For instance, I absolutely adore the sleeved fur armour on males. On females I don't really like it at all. I appreciate that there are substantial variations but when forced to use an, for me personally, aesthetically inferior version just due to character six it bugs me. Ancient Nord Boots too - male version looks amazing and the female version is just a massive meh for me.

So yeah, I fully think you should be able to choose whether to wear the male or female versions of things. Just have it so that by default all the NPCs and enemies are wearing the version for their specific six, so we don't wind up with lots of random cross dressers - or with the more 'genderized' armour variations anyway.

I hate them; I modded my game so that both gender wear the same helmet. Among all, the Ancient Nord helmet for female is ridiculous to the highest. So is the steel one too.
