Your best character archetype?

Post » Mon Jun 03, 2013 2:13 am

Made a new character, developing nearly all skills with him, but I'm not sure what I want him to be. I'm leaning towards something like a bounty hunter that uses magic, stealth, and raw combat to fulfill contracts, but it's kind of boring killing bandits over and over, despite combining multiple schools to do so.

So I was wondering what other players were doing with their characters, in general. What's your (most enjoyed) character's archetype?

It's rare that I don't do a mage/thief hybrid character. However, I've found that the stealthy rogue is my favorite archetype, generally.

Although stealth is a bit too easy in Skyrim.

Magic compliments stealth so well. And yeah, stealth is way too easy with the stupid AI dropping suspicion after being shot in the head with an arrow, twice.

I tend to go with the Mage build most of the time, though I will dabble in Stealth sometimes.

But it's all about dat Magic. :disguise:

If you are developing all the skills, then you're not really being anything. From my viewpoint, mind you. Now, specializing and adhering to those skills is more attune to my terms of being something specific. Otherwise you are just a Jack-of-Trades.

I like them all. If nothing else but the sheer variety. If I had to choose one, I would say it has to be a Stealth Archer. I just, shall we say, "fit" with the whole sniper persona.

I always have fun with my warriors, spellswords, and battlemages. They all deal with swords for some odd reason.

I have two favourite archetypes - the Mage who studies magic and history and the Thief/Assassin Archer who relys on stealth and posioned arrows.

I like Barbarians the most. I like magic but I don't like playing as a mage.

My favorite archetype alternates between sword & board melee and stealthy archery using light armor, but this time around I'm going up the heavy armor side of the smithing tree so I can craft and improve crossbows. Sneaking in Heavy is slower going at first, but it gets there. And besides, it has precedents because

Spoiler

I don't use magic much, aside from utility (alteration). Hotkeys are awkward for me to use as a left-hander. I'm sure there's a mod for that, but I haven't bothered to look. Skyrim's magic system just doesn't excite me.
