Sound just completely stopped!

Post » Sun Jun 02, 2013 11:04 pm

Have played Skyrim from first month out. Have DLCs Dragonborn and Dawnguard. Seven months ago, got new computer. Skyrim installed by Disc, but through Steam. (my mistake). No problems at all.

Have been playing happily all weekend, as usual. Just a few minutes ago, the sound went out, in the middle of playing. Checked headphones, checked with speakers. Everything worked with other games--but

now not with Skyrim.

I quit game, start and get the Intro sounds with the Bethesda Logo. Game starts (same with all characters I have) and sometimes no sound, sometimes sound for about a minute.

All other games, Internet, etc. sound works fine.

I have HP computer: Intel i5-3550 cpu @ 330 GHz, 4 GB mem, 64-bit, Win 7.

Any suggestions appreciated. Such as, should I reinstall on my own computer?

I have no mods. None of my Characters (i.e. various saves with different characters) have sound.

What do you mean?

Looks like the problem is in your save. Try loading an older save. Are you using mods? Did you make a verify cache in Steam? Just in case.

Thanks for quick reply. I have just edited what I wrote. I have no mods at all. All my saves, with all my old and new characters, the same. No sound or sound stopping after one minute.

I don't have a verify cashe in Steam and (frankly) don't even know what it is. If you have any other suggestions, I would appreciate it. Have sent a question to Steam as well.
