How to initiate remote dialogue...

I am trying to set up a full dialogue menu with branching options that can be initiated remotely either through a proxy talk reference speaking as an actor or through a TalkingActivator, however I have not yet been able to accomplish this.

I see in the daedric quests there are single lines spoken remotely as if in the player's mind, but the actual dialogue MENUS which is what I need are all handled either by placing some hovering object (Asura's light) or object (Molag Bal's statue) in front of the player and activating it like any other actor.

What I need, is to be able to access a full dialogue menu remotely, without actually having any object directly in front of the player. From what I have been able to determine thus far it doesn't seem possible.

I know you can't simply force-activate an actor or talking reference remotely because I have set up actors that work fine when the player is right in front of and physically "clicks" them, the menus come up and dialogue branches function. However, when activated remotely via script, nothing happens.

Activating via script DOES work, so long as the actor is right in front of the player (within talking distance.) Unless you change the race of the actor after it has been set up, in which case dialogue stops working altogether.

The problem with just moving my actor to the player with MoveTo and then scripting the activate, is that there is no reliable way to move said actor back if the player tab/cancels the dialogue menu. The will just remain there awkwardly standing in the way.

Also, if the actor is not given a NIF model/skeleton (so they are invisible AND can be walked through), activation for dialogue doesn't work. Apparently the actor has to have some skin mesh/model detected under the cursor in order for dialogue to fire, even when activating via script.

If anyone knows a way to get this working I would be very appreciative of any suggestions.
