A problem with the Dovahkiin's afterlife

Post » Tue Jun 04, 2013 6:28 am

So apparently, you get to go to Sovngarde after death, regardless of what any daedric princes have done to your soul. This is nice if you're a werewolf/Nightingale, to be sure, but it's problematic at best if you happen to have married a non-Nord in the expectation that you might have gotten the same afterlife. Exactly how would this be solved? Is it impossible to solve? Is vampirism the only thing that'd work?

I don't think that Hermaeus Mora can override Akatosh/Auriel anymore than Nocturnal or Hircine can. He's still only a daedric prince.

Also, what if the Dovahkiin is not a Nord? Say, an Altmer perhaps. Would they still go to Sovngarde?

So I've heard, that's what's said in Sovngarde itself.

If you're not a Nord, I doubt you'd be heading to Sovngarde. If you don't worship Nord deities or subscribe to the typical Nord ideals, you shouldn't be in Sovngarde.

I don't know about you but my Dovahkiin is going to the hunting grounds no matter what.......

If I got to I'll dig holes all over Sovengarde, piss on everything and mark all as mine and drag my butt across the floors of the Hall of valor until I'm kicked out for being an unruly dog. Then I'll enjoy my outdoors time with Hircine :D

That seems strange though. As LordofBones quite rightly says, if you're not a Nord and you don't worship the Nordic pantheon, why is the LDB made to go there in death?

I mean, I doubt it would be pleasant for a mer or beast to be stuck there for eternity.

Personally I'd hope one of the Daedric Princes gets my character's soul.

Look at it this way. What if you sell your soul to Mehrunes Dagon or Meridia for their artifact after you do the MQ? I believe Beth added a lot of choices into the game for just this reason. Not to mention Herma Mora with Dragonborn. Personally I was so digusted by the ES champions fate that I left Solstheim and returned to the mainland just because I have NO desire for my DoVahKiin to become a Herma Mora stooge. I have quests to do in my log but have no desire to return there to finish them, at least at this point. :stare:

I've had characters who weren't Nords defeat Alduin and they're told by Tsun that they'll be welcomed in Sovngarde at the end of their days!

As with the Cow letting every non-mage pass, the same would apply to Sovngarde. No restrictions, no limitations. Everyone gets in. No matter what affiliation you might have. Otherwise it would be too confusing for other less invested players.

Maybe Tsun says that the player of any race non-nord can return because they are a Nord at heart.

I think they're welcomed purely because they're the Dovakiin and defeater of Alduin.

Other non-Nords need not apply, admittance will be refused! :D
