Also building a PC for Skyrim

Post » Tue Jun 04, 2013 6:35 am

After seeing another user post a topic on a PC he was building (I didn't want to steal his thread) I decided to check what you guys though of a build I'm currently saving up for.

I WAS pretty sure about it, until I read about problems with AMD/RADEON cards and am now thinking of getting one of the GTX cards (but I don't know too much about parts, so I'm not sure which one to get!).

Anyway, http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/LordDaem/saved/#savedbuild_256083 Any help that you can give is greatly GREATLY appreciated!

What problems with Radeons did you read about? Whether AMD or nVidia, occasionally there will be bugs related to a new chipset and/or driver. Overall nVidia has a better track record with drivers, however AMD used to release many more drivers (once a month). Once AMD stopped releasing driver so frequently, they have been better.

The AMD Radeon 7970 is a very good card, but for the value the nVidia GTX 770 is a better value (roughly the same price, at least in the US at 399USD).

Apparently they get laggy or something? Can't really remember, I just panicked!!

Shor's Bones! I'm in the wrong place again!

Sorry, I saw the one in Skyrim Genral Discussion and though this forum was the correct place!

You mean the microstuttering issue? That is being fixed now, and it doesn't apply to one card, which you seem to be getting, it only applies to Crossfire.

That rig will certainly eat Skyrim for breakfast and s*it it out at lunchtime. No reason to panic. :)
