They are probably talking about the Dark Brotherhood and the Thieves, both of whom have to invite you. Not sure what the third one would be, whether the Blades or Companions, but the last is fairly well known.

Agreed with SemperFiMan.

There aren't any factions that you can join by reading a few books. Now, there are factions that you can't join or are not present in Skyrim that you can read about, but that's about as far as it goes.

I'm not talking about the factions we all know, like the Dark brotherhood, the thieves guild, College of winterhold, bards, or companions, talking about kind of special guilds.

If there were secret factions you could join from reading books, there would be plenty of information about them 2.5 years after release... especially with the PC version's construction kit and the sheer number of people that go through the game with a fine tooth comb it wouldn't be a secret past the first day let alone this late in the cycle... I think you've been had ;)

I think you are confused I have heard the quests that start from reading a book (like the reforging the amulet one) referred to as "secret" quests, but not factions.

There's list of all factions in Skyrim, both joinable and unjoinable.

Nothing is a secret in this game anymore.

Hell, you can't keep a secret long in any game these days. Give it a week and every secret will be all over youtube and have their own wiki page :P

did you hear last week they found a new side quest in Final Fantasy 9 that no one knew existed (At least, their was no reference on it on any know gaming sites or walkthroughs)? and how old is that game? (All it consisted of is talking to these two guys a couple times, and all you got from it was a protect ring, but still). So its not unheard of.

but as for what the OP is talking about.

Doesn't exist, with things like the CS, such a secret would not be a secret for long.

This game comes with Creation Kit. How is it possible that people still believe in "secrets" undiscovered months after release?

Yes, it was a lot of speculations at least after Dragonborn, they went away with the pc version where we could look into stuff in the editor.
