remaking the original fallout games

Post » Thu Jun 06, 2013 12:33 pm

How cool would it be to remake fallout 1 and 2 in the first person aspect of 3 and new vegas
Keeping in mind that this should be a true remake story line should not change one bit.
Just fix up the graphics make it a fps like the new fallouts.
So these young kids can get am idea of the story line as a whole, and for us fallout veterines that want to play the original games but with a bit of a new age feel to it.

A waste of time and money in my opinion. The gameplay and the mechanics were (over) half the experience. Too much would be lost in translation.

The originals are very playable as they are.

The stories, events and NPC's would transpose well and be interesting to see.

However, Fallouts 1 & 2 were very much balanced with an emphasis on SPECIAL and the skill system - unfortunately, that doesn't transfer well to first person and the combat in particular.

Why relive the old stories when there are so many new ones to experience?

Call it a hunch but I think you fit more into the young kids category than the fallout veterines category. Call it a hunch.

EDIT: a certain site that popularized green text is filtered.

FAKE EDIT: No, I don't want to see the old fallout games remade. It just doesn't seem right to me. They run perfectly fine on modern computers and are so cheap anyone can feasibly pay them.

Like seriously, I think lunch at Burger King costs the same amount, if not more, than the Fallout Trilogy on GoG or Amazon.

I agree that this is not the job of Bethesda and Obsidian. But we modmaker can do :) .

I know some of the dinosaurs will getting mad again but still here a little sneak peak what I am working on with our team:

Bethesda would probably dumb it down to a Skyrim clone and color it green.

It was interesting to watch. Best of luck. I hope to try it one day.

Oh boy its this thread again.

You can still play. Every computer can run it now. And besides, I like the old mechanics. It was part of their charm. I like failing speech checks with 100% speech. There is also no reason to remake for its story since it's already there. There are new stories to be told and I don't want the man power to go into recreating a game that doesn't need to be remade.

No. Just no.

Unless you're talking about a 2D turn-based game with improved combat system, user interface and graphics, the idea to remake them is utter [censored].

And you didn't have blaring "YOU NEED TO USE SPEECH SKILL TO PASS THIS" in your eyes, you had to determine yourself what to say.

Don't see the point, Fallout 3 already ripped off its story from both Fallout and Fallout 2.
