Cleric Class: Thoughts and Feedback

Post » Thu Jun 06, 2013 8:34 pm

So just recently today, I decided to create a class I've always thought about trying out, but never really got around to it. The Cleric.

For the race, I chose the Breton, because of their high resistance to magic and their magicka bonus. Plus they would fit the Cleric type character.

For my Birthsign I chose The Atronach, for its very high magicka bonus (Which is the highest out of the three mage centric birthsigns), and its spell absorption.

So far, I have 50% Magic Resistance and 50% Magicka Absorption. Which will be devistating against mages.

For attributes I picked Willpower and Endurance. Though hindsight Willpower is meaningless when you have the Atronach sign.

Finally for skills I have the following:

Blade

Block

Heavy Armor

Armorer

Restoration

Alteration

Mysticism

So after getting those things out of the way, what do you guys think of this class?

Is your cleric planning on using some form of ranged attack?

Nope not for this one. Though I am thinking about trying one that wears Light Armor and and wields a bow.

Why do you ask?

Versus conjurors and necrodudes, sounds like he'll have to charge in. That'll alert numerous of the troublesome and speedy summoners to sprint around throwing spells and summoned helpers at him. I hope it doesn't get too frustrating. They're no threat at all for a stealthy sniper since their easy one shot sneak kills but I wonder how a heavy melee character with no ranged ability will do. Good gear and perhaps an absorb health enchanted blade should help. Oh, and good foot speed I should imagine. And good healing skill (yay Cleric!).

True he will, that's why I gave him Heavy Armor so he can tank those attacks. I'll also make sure to invest heavily the Elemental Shield spells.

I like the Restoration/Alteration/Mysticism combination. You have all kinds of Absorb, Resist, Reflect, and Shield. Great for playing the defensive magic type. Add some gear with Reflect Damage, and you can indeed tank your way through just about any situation.

You might consider replacing blade with conjuration. Bladed weapons don't seem very cleric like and conjuration gives you the turn undead spells, which is cleric like. I probably would not do any summoning, unless you are going for evil cleric summoning undead.

The Ritual birth sign is also something to consider for a cleric, although you cannot go wrong with Atronach.

If I were to go with Conjuration, it would only be for Turn Udead spells and the like. Which isn't enough of a reason for me to go with it. I'd just thought the more defensive and buffing type of Cleric would be more up my ally. Though, he still has that "Holy Warrior" thing going for him though.
