My Kind of Town quest

Choices? I've got choices? Seriously coming from a year and a half of Skyrim this is very new to me.

So first I decide to save the deputy. Kneeling to shoot and using VATS it wasn't too hard to kill all the bandits in the hotel by luring them to me one or two at a time (granted the leader with that flame thing got me the first time so I had to reload). I let the deputy run out (I figured he'd just get in the way anyway) and finished clearing the upper floors.

Once again I forgot how to repair things in this game. I was looking everywhere for a work table to combine my 10+ 9mm guns and outfits to make them better quality. I didn't know I could just select them and press 'R' to go into the repair screen at any time. So yeah, I cleared out the whole hotel with crappy gear. Oh well.

So NCR says talk to some guy in some place I haven't been to yet to get more troops and they would protect the town. The deputy sounded like he'd rather have this old sheriff that is sitting in the prison. Choice? What? I am wanting to try to play a 'good' person best I can on this first play-though and to be honest I am not convinced yet that the NCR are all good. But getting a convict sheriff doesn't sound so hot either. I went and talked to him since it seemed like the people in town would be more comfortable with him, and he basically said that as needed he would put himself above the law to get done what needs to be done. Well that doesn't sound so good. I told him I'd try to get him pardoned and now I need to go to the other place where I will either ask the NCR guy there for more troops, or I will ask for a pardon for the sheriff.

The problem I'm having is the lack of knowledge of the lore in this game. I feel like my character would know if the NCR is good or not. He would have an opinion about that already because it's something everyone knows. From the feedback I get from NPC's it sounds like they generally add law, but remove freedom. Hmm ... now that I think about it that sounds a lot like the current US government's tactics, so ... obviously they are evil. Right?

Evil? No. Only bureacratic, inefficient and corrupt, just like modern democracies

If you talk to the people in the town about the candidates, you will come to the right decision about Primm.

I think there is even a Repair option for Primm Slimm if you have the right parts.

30 science skill for Primm Slim. Theres a Programmers Digest in the Nash Residence (mojave outpost express office) that will cover 10 of the required science skill. 20 points if you have the Comprehension perk.

You get a discount if you pick one option, and have to pay more with Nash if you pick another option. I can't seem to figure out how spoilers work in these threads, so I won't say.

You know, if I was playing a character that was high tech I'm sure going robots all the time would be ideal for the role-play. I'll have to try a techie sometime.

WeedKing4: you're in a spoiler thread. Tags seem redundant. ;)

Having done all three options, I preferred the Primm Slim option. Not only does he fire the cowardly deputy, but I really laughed at the comment he's too slow to catch criminals. :D

At this stage in the game, the choice of Primm isn't catastrophic to the game overall. You'll simply get a different GNR broadcast and ending dialogue.

As to knowing how decisions will play out, don't sweat it. Part of the game is playing as your character would decide, and if the choice ends up being unfavorable to the current game, that's when you have to buck up and deal with them.

This game gives no "good" ending. No matter what your choice, there is always a price to pay.

That's the moral of the game, so enjoy it! :)

instead of making a new thread for every single quest you do, why don't you just look on the fallout wiki to get your answers?

seriously, I am dreading when you do 'Beyond the Beef' if every quest with choice equals a thread.

once again, why don't you just play the game and stop overthinking it... do what you think is best for the choices you have. :s

Once again you're missing out on some important details. There is a third option available. And be sure to look closely in the Mojave Express office.

You don't need that, you can repair him with parts.

No matter what option you choose, Beagle ends up out of a job.

Come on, cut him some slack, the guy is enjoying his first playthrough. This will eventually stop as he gets used to the game. Let him savour it. It's not like he's overflooding the forums or anything.

I kind of enjoy seeing people's reactions first hand.

/thread

I personally prefer the convict sheriff option. It's a bit more work to be done but it really adds some substance to the story of the town, IMO.

Beagle is useless anyways. If I ever had my speech high enough when you reach him for the first time. OFF WITH HIS HEAD!
