Welcome to the OOC and Sign-Up Thread #1 of the Great Khans RP!
“Due to our initiation rituals, Great Khans are extremely tough. Don’t expect us to do down easily. Though we have had a rough history, the legendary Great Khans are one of the longest-lived gangs to come out of the southwest.”
“The initiation ritual is a vital part of our strength. The man or woman who wishes to become a true Great Khan Warrior will enter the ring in our camp, together with a handful of true Khans, carrying the initiation clubs. If the initiate survives the beating, without screaming or crying, he or she will be accepted as a true Great Khan.”
“In our home camp, we live through hard work. We farm the land for sparse crops and hunt in the mountains for meat and hides. Our search-parties scavenge old ruins, or loot dead traveler’s possessions. If an NCR patrol is foolish enough to walk into our new lands, we won’t hesitate to ambush them. Sometimes we’ll go on more organized raids to nearby villages and outposts. But the biggest income for us is our drug dealing. We sell them to anyone, traveling merchants, fiends, raiders, jackals, scorpions, vipers, you name it. Sometimes they come to us, but most of the time we go to them.”
“We work in small war parties; small teams lead by a unit leader. The individuality and flexibility of these units has proven valuable many times, often catching our enemies’ off-guard due to their unpredictability.”
“Some factions in the wasteland prefer to rely on technology, but to rely on something so frail is to rely on something weak. Our physical strength in melee encounters is unmatched, and our fast firing sub-machine guns are perfect for close-to-mid range encounters. For versatility, we also carry shotguns and revolvers, both backing a serious punch up close. The occasional scoped weapon gives us the edge we need when defending our new home against intruders.”
“I believe that is all you need to know. Welcome to the Great Khans. I hope you won’t disappoint.”
The Battle of Hoover Dam was a bloody massacre without equal. Both the Legion and the NCR suffered heavy causalities, only to wipe out everyone at the damn when it was blown apart. The Mojave Wasteland is in chaos, and both the NCR and Ceaser’s Legion have gone into a new stale-mate, no longer interested in the broken dam. The Legion’s leader, Ceaser, died to a brain tumor, leaving command to a mysterious new figure.
Due to the events of the Dam, the Great Khans too suffered great casualties. They’d sided with Ceaser’s Legion and lost nearly half their warriors when the dam collapsed. The Khans retreated, and now their former ally also hates them. They have no friends left in the Mojave. They could no longer stay in the Mojave, and instead sought a new start at Wyoming. The place has a weak NCR presence, with dangerous creatures and powerful gangs in control.
The Great Khans RP is set in the Wyoming Wasteland, after the battle of Hoover Dam at 2281. The goal of the RP is to live the life of a Great Khan, a faction who has many enemies. Joining the RP is simple. Fill in the character-sheet below, keeping in mind that over-powered and out-of-place characters won’t be accepted:
Name: (What is your name?)
Race: (caucasion, African-american, or…?)
Age: (How old is your character?)
Gender: (male, or female?)
Role: (Are you a drug-maker, a farmer, a hunter, a mix between something, or…?)
Appearance: (Height, muscle-mass, hair, facial features, scars, tattoo’s, war-paint, or…?)
Armor and clothing: (naked, or…?)
Weapons: (Knife or shotgun, or…?)
Misc-items: (does he/she carry something interesting with them?)
Skills: (What can your character do? this is important -> How well can he/she do those things? <–this is important. Is there something he/she can’t do that well?)
Personality: (Funny and charming, or silent and serious? Head-on in battle, or a patient killer?)
Background: (What brought your character to the Great Khans? How long has he/she been part of them? What has he/she done before joining?)
You can join the RP as one of these (you can be a mix of these as well, should there be need. Do note that if you are a hunter, you can still do plenty of other things. This is merely a guide-line, to make sure we don’t all end up playing as the same type of Great Khans!):
- An initiate.
- A warrior.
- A drug courier.
- A hunter.
- A drug-maker.
- A farmer.
- Scavenger.
- Squad leader.
- Tanner.
- Handyman / repairer.
- Papa Khan’s right hand.
- (something else I haven’t thought about)
In this RP, Papa Khan is probably the only NPC from the game that makes an appearance in the Great Khans of this RP. He is an NPC controlled by all GM’s, if there is need to control him. All positions the other NPC might’ve had are up for grabs. In addition to Papa Khan, there will be around a dozen NPC Khans in the camp, keeping lookout and doing their tasks.
Do note that in this RP, you can come up with things for others to do, without having to wait for a GM to give out a mission. For example, a warrior might need some new armor, so he goes to the tanner, who tells a hunter to get some leather. Or, a drug-maker needs a scavenger to find something for him, so that a warrior can then take it to the buyer out there in the wasteland.)
Some rules to follow, because all RP’s need them:
1: Don’t be a demi-god, or be too powerful.
2: Don’t control other player’s characters, unless given permission.
3: Try to write as detailed posts as possible. At least five –new- sentences per post is required. If you cannot do that, then RPing is probably not your thing. The only time you can go under five sentences is if you’re in a long talk with another player’s character.
4: The OOC (our-of-character) and Sign-Up threads are not for general chatting. Only things directly related to the events and characters of the Great Khan RP are allowed to discuss in them.
5: Despite these rules, do try to have fun!
Accepted characters:
GorbadPS3
Yor – Caucasion male, 33 years old. Scavenger and Hunter.
Did I forget something? Do you have questions? Is there someone dedicated out there who’d like to join as a co-GM?
About Wyoming:
Two-thirds of the wasteland's west-side is rocky mountains, with a huge open plains up north, known as the High Plains. The most civilized city, Cheyenne, is located at the south-east corner. Many gangs live in the ruins of that city. Some interesting maps to look at: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/6e/Wyoming_ref_2001.jpg and http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/a1/Map_Wyoming_NPS_sites_USA.gif. We can only assume the Yellowstone volcano erupted due to the events at 2077, but the land has since recovered.
