Skyrim Crashes on Startup, after deleting a mod

Post » Mon Jun 10, 2013 7:05 pm

Hello there fellow Skyrim players.

For a few days ago I bought the "Skyrim Legendary Edition". I already had the original Skyrim and have played it a lot, but got bored of it. So I think that if I buy the DLCs and get a bunch of mods, then it would be really fun again.

So that's what I did. However, after everything was done and Skyrim worked as it should, I thought it was a little bit laggy. I was around 40-45 FPS, and for me that is really annoying. I want to stay at 60.

After looking thought the mods I had installed (I use Nexus Mod Manager btw), I came up with that "Lush Trees and Grass" was a real FPS burner, so I thought that I could just hit deactivate or uninstall and then it would be fine.

God I was wrong. Now Skyrim wont start at all. After starting SKSE the screen goes black, and just before the Bethesda logo should appear, the game crashes and closes without any error or anything. Just as I would have pressed alt + f4 or something like that.

So then I read a round and tried the following solutions:

-Reinstalling the mod in any way possible. (I have not tried to reinstall it manually though)

-Changing the loadorder of the mods both via the NMM and the official launcher. Still no changes.

-I saw a guy on youtube that talked about TES5Edit so I downloaded this and ran it a few time. There was some errors but I fixed them. Still same crashing.

-Resetted the INI files.

What should I do? I don't want to reinstall the whole game and redownload everything etc, because I am really happy with my save and If I do reinstall it, I probably wont be able to play on my previous save. I guess that's what I have to do in the worst of cases but hopefully Ill get some help from here.

Cheers

Easterlily

Crashing at start is frequently caused by a master file (*.esm) that is missing or disabled.

However, Lush Trees and Grass seems to have no esm or esp file. And also, I have tried to reinstall the mod. Would'nt that fix it, if that was the problem?

Aside from posting your mod load order, you should also try running BOSS if you haven't already as it often tells you if your mods conflict or are outdated.

Why are you complaining about having 40-45 FPS when I'm playing with lower FPS let say 15-30 without annoying lag. Of course sometimes it took me a while before the game responded.

I think someone in one of the threads in the mod forum (Oblivion/Skyrim) mentioned that NMM doesn't install some mods properly, so I suggest that you use BAIN in http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1459790-relz-wrye-bash-thread-31/ to install mods.

From my research the mode affects the Data/Meshes; 10 - Grass and 20 - Trees. If you don't have any other grass and/or tree mods then simply remove the mesh files and allow Steam to verify the install. It shouldn't affect the save files.
