Be a spectre in skyrim?

Post » Mon Apr 12, 2010 10:08 am

I was wandering in some part of the imperial library and i came across some lore notes and have been wondering are we going to be a Spectre?

- Penitus Oculatus is an Imperially run intelligence and assassination agency which appears to have replaced the Blades.

- Members of the Penitus Oculatu are known colloquially as “spectres” and are generally disliked.

I think its plaudible that were going to be a Spectre for whatever reason

On a side note... those special agents replacing the blades seem to be a funny reference to the Spectres in Mass Effect....

Mass Effect used the term wrong. Everyone knew who the specters were in ME.

Somehow when I saw the title of this thread I thought you were refering to the Spectre's in Mass Effect...

But if the Blades have been replaced by a different order, I could see the player being part of that organization. In past Elder Scrolls games, it seems the player has often been a member of the Blades or joins them as part of the main quest. But if the order of the Blades has been disolved as I believe I heard is revealed in Infernal City, though having not read the book myself, that information comes from these forums so I'm not sure of its reliability, but regardless, going by this, I could certainly see the player joining that order doing the main quest. Of course, there's no way to know for sure except to wait, I'll just say now that it's a possibility.

I prefer the Blades. I like the Blades.
They are cool. I'm fine with the Blades.

I'm sure there will be splinter factions in the Empire comprised of dissident Blades who disagree with Titus Mede's regime. At least there will be if BGS wants any political intrigue in their universe at all.

It seems that Mede replaced the Blades, judging by the fact that the Pentius however you spell it is the main spying entity of his Empire.

Yeah but some of the former Blades may have split from the new Empire and formed their own underground organisations due to differences of opinion with Mede.

The Blades disappear within interim rule. They magically appear again, when Talos clears his throat.

But that assumes the Blades and their infrastructure were integrated with the new Empire at all. For all we know they could have been left to rot and the new organization has no relation to the blades.

In which case there's no reason for the former Blades not to have stuck together at all :turned:

Nah, you will be one of the remnats of the Blades. The Blades protect the Dragonborn. Dragonborn = Dovahkiin. Blades will come back I think.

When I read the thread title I was like "first they want to be a lich, and now a ghost?" but silly me ^^. Yea I'd like the mainquest to be from the point of view of a darker faction, always found the blades to be a little goody goody for my taste ^^

The Blades aren't goody goody. Not the real ones.

Maybe not, but the whole "protect the emperor" really isn't my thing ^^. But hey the mainquest really doesn't mean a whole lot to me really

If we are playing a pro-imperial role in the next game (and it's set after the books), then the fact that there is a new intelligence agency might make it feasible for the blades to play the role of villains. Or not.

I dont see why the blades would be anti-imperial

No need for italics my good man, the OP is correct as are you. They are Inspectors, but they are known colloquially as Spectres. That is to say, their official title is Inspector, but most call them Spectres.

I am of the belief that the blades will return in Skyrim. They protect the Dragonborn after all...
