Skyrim on next gen consoles?

I thought that some Xbox 360 games would be available to download on your Xbox One. I'm not 100% sure though.

Hmm, yes perhaps...

The latest update: the next-generation Xbox will run three operating systems simultaneously. wow !!! (Sounds a little complex to me !!! lol)

Complementing Windows 8 and RT on PCs and tablets, there'll be a third version of Microsoft's operating system that has been stripped down or whatever

specifically for the new console.

1. This will be the main system OS used to run apps such as Skype and other non-game titles downloaded from the Xbox storefront.

2. At the same time, virtualization technology similar to Microsoft's "Hyper-V" will be used to allocate system resources to a second,

dedicated "Xbox OS" when the user loads up a game.

3. the third OS sounds like a small layer allowing the two main personalities of the console to talk to each other.

(What ever that means anyway...)

I am not sure how much of the Windows 8 experience will be carried over to the Xbox, although the pictures suggest we'll get something

like a Start Screen with live tiles.

In terms of whether apps will be cross-compatible between the regular Windows Store and the storefront accessed by the new console, i thing they won't.

But the similarities between Windows 8 and Windows for the Xbox should make this a pretty easy feat for coders, eh.

I personally would not buy XBOX 1, rather investing in something more substantial, less complex though...

(that's my personal opinion anyway...) :D

I don't think so, because...

If you were hoping to play your vast collection of Xbox 360 games on Microsoft's latest creation, Microsoft Xbox Live VP Marc Whitten confirmed

that the new Xbox One console will have no backwards compatibility whatsoever.

"The system is based on a different core architecture, so back-compat doesn't really work from that perspective."

That means that Xbox 360 discs won't work, but also extends to Xbox Live Arcade downloadable titles.

Anything that was designed for the Xbox 360 will have to be rebuilt, and it sounds like Microsoft doesn't plan to do so.

But i think Microsoft have plans releasing at a future time a small Box without drive connected with the XBOX 1.

They will using the existing blu-ray drive from XBOX 1 and trough streaming to the second box, your will be able to play your XBOX 360 games.

But when this will happen, no one knows for sure...

No sense wasting the resources.

Definitely shocked to hear TESO will be on next-gen consoles. Will be fun to experience. Although, mmo's are not my m.o. :D I prefer to work alone....

That said, yes i think Skyrim will be on next-gen, but in a different context, and different era.

No, they wouldn't. That would look less than spectacular on their part.

On a side note, I've known that the Xbox1 wouldn't be reverse compatible long before the hype about it. It's the main reason why I may very well not buy it; the only way I'd use it is if it was given to me as a gift.

Who cares about all the fancy things it can do? Honestly, the more technology changes the more it ruins society in my eyes.

I personally am considering going to PS4 rather than X-Box IF it handles Beth's games better than PS3 and IF I don't get a gaming computer built first. I am not a fan of MS sacrificing gaming in favor of multi media. If I get a game system it's because I want a GAME SYSTEM, not a multi format home 'I do everything' system.

Nothing confirmed at this point and considering Microsoft are releasing a new model of Xbox 360 -soon-, they are obviously expecting that not everyone is going to 'upgrade' straight away or even within the first 6-12 months.

I prefer my TES over Fallout, but I think Bethesda's time is better spent working on Fallout 4. If they contract out for someone to do a port, then great, if not I won't be losing any sleep. I've already got it on Xbox 360 and PC anyway.
