Wild animals against fists

I've recently started a new playtrough of Oblivion. I made a nord boxer. So far most enemies are relatively easy to kill but when I enter the wilderness everything changes. Mountain lions, bears, unicorns and almost every other animal in the game seems to beat me and I wanted to know if this is only a H2H(Hand to hand) problem or do blade and blunt users experience it too.

Also are there any tricks or strategies that make H2H better?

That's just what happens when you go boxing against wild animals. Just ask Holyfield.

Bears and mountain lions (and unicorns, and some of the "animal"-like daedra - most notably Clannfears) tend to be tough no matter what - they're faster and have more reach than most other enemies, and they're more likely to stagger you when they hit. The problem though is that the easiest way to deal with them is to try to stay out of their reach, which is really tough to do with a hand-to-hander. So yeah - part of the problem is that your Nord has to get in close to them to hit them, but they're a problem pretty much no matter what anyway.
