Heartife like house building

As a house modder I have found the Hearfire DLC to be the most intriguing and disappointing at the same time. The system itself is a satisfying in-game way of making "your own home" and a certain freedom to what it would contain. The contents of the house and their placement are less so. Now I was standing in front of the decision to make do with what I got or try and upgrade it with the CK. And since I am a house modder at heart, the first option was a very clear no. Unfortunately it didn't take long to come to the conclusion that the second option is over my own capabilities. Even though I managed to get a somewhat clear view of what would be needed to make things different my own skills simply aren't up to par. To find out that there are practically no mods doing this from more capable modders lets me to believe I may not be the only one with this problem.

So, onward to what I would like some help with: to make a similar building experience without the interfering mumbo-jumbo. I would like to keep the recipe way of crafting building parts and interior objects (it is a nice way to see what you will get and what you will need for it after all). Companion compatibility is not my primary concern, since I hardly use any of those. Likewise the adoption. I don't mind them, but they can stay in another home of mine.

Since I am hardly much of a script writer the question is: What script would be needed to make objects be enabled when a certain item is added to the player's inventory? In Oblivion there was the OnAdd block on the item added, which could be used for this. I liked it for it's simplicity and hope for something equally simple or even exactly the same (minus differences in scripting language of course). If someone would like to write a sample of such a script I would be most grateful.

I would also like to point out, that my scripting skills end with some basic Oblivion scripts, therefore any higher programmer language will fly over my head. (I tried to get my head around the Creation Kit Wiki only to get myself a migraine. :wallbash: If you know some truly beginner tutorials, I would be most appreciative for those as well.)

Thanks for any ideas or help you are willing to offer! Hopefully this will prove to be a simple path for other modders to follow and add their own Heartfire like houses to the game.

PS: I know there are some message based houses to build out there in the plethora of Skyrim mods, none of them though include the Heartfire possibilities and crafting system. (Doesn't mean I won't study them.)
