Can you break a plugin by deleting scripts?

So...

I set a script on a trigger's reference alias, and then decided I could just put the script on the trigger itself to be able to set my objectivedisplayed. As it wasn't working through the alias.

Any way, so I believe I deleted the entire alias with the script still on. And then hit ok, when a box popped up and said something about saving a backup psc.

Anyway, I go back into game, and as soon as i walk into the triggerbox, it is popping up with the same debug.messagebox from the alias I deleted and not the new messagebox i put on the actual trigger.

This confused me, as it i could not find that script anywhere and yet it kept popping up. No matter how I changed the actual trigger. So then I got crazed and found the .psc file that it backed up from my Data folder and deleted it with a smug grin on my face.

Ever since then, my mod has done very bizarre things, it won't start the quest anymore, even after I cleaned it with TESVEdit, created a new SEQ file, Started a new character/game. and the trigger still refuses to show my debug.messagebox ON the actual trigger. And when I made a new alias for the trigger, created another script of the same name I had deleted, it won't work either.

So two questions: Since I probably completed screwed up my plugin, is there anyway to salvage the interiors and dialogue that i created? And what is the proper way to remove scripts and aliases so I don't have this problem again?

Thanks!
