The Earlier Fallout Games are owned by a different studio entirely. Bethesda has no rights to the distribution or sale of those games.

I think I can see it happening, but it may be tough since both Fallouts were strictly PC IIRC so controls will be a toughie to re configure for consoles.

I didn't know that when Bethesda got the license, the past games were excluded from that list.

I wish, it'd be a lot of fun. Don't know how well it would work without a mouse and keyboard. Also don't know if the kiddies would buy it, and if there's no $ it won't be done.

I thought for sure morrowind would end up getting a port to the 360, but it never happen'd.

Bethesda will own those rights at the end of this year. That was one of the terms that came out of the Bethesda-Interplay lawsuit settlement.

Having said that, it's very doubtful they'd spend any money or resources porting the earlier Fallout games to the consoles. That's just not how they roll.

Interplay sold the license to Bethesda when they were in bankruptcy back in 2006-2007. Interplay had, at the time and under the direction of Herve Caen, shelved Van Buren (the original Fallout 3) and poured everything into Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel ("fondly" referred to as Fallout:POS or "The Burned Game" by the old school Fallout fans). POS utterly bombed and was a major factor in driving Interplay into bankruptcy. They sold the license for future rights to Bethesda for a song, thinking it was a dead franchise.

Well, Bethesda turned it into Fallout 3 and made hundreds of millions of dollars off it. Interplay got greedy and tried to exploit the sale agreement by claiming rights to develop a Fallout MMO, hoping to cash in on the success of Bethesda's Fallout 3. Bethesda then sued Interplay in 2009. That suit was finally settled in 2012 - in exchange for a cash payment, Interplay gave up all rights to a Fallout MMO immediately, as well as all merchandising rights to the original Fallout games after 12/31/2013. Bethesda will own the entire franchise at that point.

I think Beth gets the rights to them in December this year, so i'm gonna take a pop at Bethesda announcing a fallout hd collection on consoles and fallout 4 at the same time

Fallout HD already exists. It's called "Fallout (2) High Resolution Patch".

I don't know if Fallout 1 and 2 could come to consoles. It's not the processing power, any current console can run those games, it is the control layout and UI. It's very keyboard mouse centric for the first games. How much of the game play would have to change for the console UI adaptation, then how much does the game need to be recoded, and what must be removed from the game so it can be published today?

The things we don't talk here about in the forum. Fallout 1 & 2 had some provocative elements in it which can't be done anymore in the gaming market. Especially on consoles. Play them and you know.
