Werewolf spawns

Is it true that you need to start and complete the companions questline before random werewolves will spawn?

I would believe so, otherwise they would be an extremely rare encounter.

Dawnguard added the werewolf encounter, so I doubt you have to complete the Campanions MQ for that. However, it is a pretty rare encounter.

I checked the UESP and it says that you have to complete the Proving Honor quest before any of the werewolf encounters can occur. Even with that it is a very rare encounter, I have only had it happen 3 times in the hundreds of hours I've been playing Skyrim since the release of Dawnguard.

I wish werewolf spawns weren't tied to the companions because i really don't like them nor do i want to be apart of them or become a werewolf since i happy being a VL. :sadvaultboy:

Agreed, it svcks that you have to join the companions to get the encounters; especially since there really isn't a good reason why. You wouldn't have to become a werewolf though, that doesn't occur until a little farther into the questline than you would need to get the encounters.

I know but i would like to be able to complete the entire questline as a VL so that i will feel unique compared to the other guild members plus i like the radiant quest they have and i feel like a badass doing a quest i know would be harder for the other non-circle members to do and even more so the circle themselves since my vampirism lets me survive the most harshest conditions no mortal could survive through.
