Fallout 4 Speculation Suggestions and Ideas #133

Post » Wed Jun 19, 2013 12:46 am

This topic is for ideas and suggestions for Fallout 4 so that we can keep all the discussion in one thread. At moderator discretion, threads about specific and distinct topics as they relate to FO4 and the rest of the Fallout series may be acceptable in the Fallout Series forum. General idea/suggestion topics for a future Fallout game will either be closed, or moved to this one.
This thread should be used to discuss items you'd like to see in a future game, gameplay tweaks, quest ideas, things you hope are not in the next game and so on. If you want to discuss major issues, use a separate topic - such as the discussion about adding multi-player or co-op play, which already has a thread. Please search first to see if there is an active/recent thread on a particular topic.

http://www.gamesas.com/user/15304-ccna/: Something to note. Discussions of Child Killing is not allowed on these boards. Don't even bring it up in this thread. It won't happen in any future game from Bethesda, so there is no reason to even discuss it. If you post about this subject, you may be Warned and or Banned from the boards for doing so.

This is also not a thread to discuss current or past Fallout Games, other than to mention an aspect of the game you want to see included, or not included, in a future Fallout game.

A propos the "Fallout 4 rumour" that's circulating. http://fallout.gamepedia.com/Blog:News/Why_that_Fallout_4_rumour_should_be_taken_with_a_grain_of_salt that Bubblenews.com pays authors for page views their article get. It's very likely that the article is a sham meant to lure traffic and generate revenue for the author.

Do yourself a favour and don't link to it.

Billy Creel and Tommy Torini did have eye patches. With mods you could easily enable them during character creation.

The following things I'd like to have in Fallout 4.

  • Have the ability to construct a home(of course, you gonna need to find the materials or can be purchased), or even the ability to build a new community! re-build the infrastructure, the security of the community you're building.
  • Unlimited companions, I'd like unlimited amount of companions because I'd like to have several companions in the same time, it was annoying in New Vegas I couldn't have Boone, Veronica, Cass and Eddie together, hunting raiders.
  • More background to the Great War, how it effected location and the communities of the are Fallout 4 is set it.
  • Vaults! Yes, it's no Fallout game with no Vaults from Vault Tech.
  • More variation of Nuka Cola, or a local drink like Sunset Sarsaparilla was for New Vegas, some iconic drink with a mascot that belongs in the game, and feels right.
  • Choices between Pip Boys, it would be nice to have option of pip-boys, maybe make the Pip Boy 3000 Official pip-boy, but have like in certain Vaults diagrams of Pip Boys that could be crafted!
  • Pip Boy glove, how many times..have an option to toggle it on or of.
  • Skyrim tier Human/Ghoul models, they were fantastic, unlike Fallout 3/New Vegas models that looked like plastic dolls, which were disgusting.
  • Have it play a homage to Vault 13, or atleast have it referenced by it several times, oh and the Master's army, that would be fantastic.
  • Have it playble after the ending WITHOUT buying any DLC/Or make it a patch close to launch, if the Bethesda thinks it's a detail they could easily implement in a patch or so.
  • The rep system from New Vegas should make a return, but could be improved in some ways.
  • Have an FOV slider, this is 1 thing about Bethesda games that grinds my gear the most. The slider needs to be from 65 degrees to 100 degrees.
  • Take advantage of Nvidia PhysX, much like Borderlands 2's devs took advantage of it. Could be cool.
  • Don't re-use hair from Fallout 3/New Vegas, make them from scratch, or use the Skyrim hair and improve it.
  • Ability to have a motorcycle that is powered by fusion cells and repair it,

I know i'm falling into the trap but nothing in the supposed trailer sounds outright silly it's a believable snippet do far, but again it is only a rumor and it doesn't really make sense to me to show off a trailer behind closed doors it would seem more logical to show off the game in it's current build if anything to me as what's the point of teasing a small room of people? :shrug

Considering many games have been shown behind closed doors in E3/Penny Arcade/Tokyo Game Show/etc, it could be real.

Though, I'd expect Bethesda to announce Fallout 4 around 2014, as they announced Skyrim when it was almost finished(like 1 year before it's release) and it could make sense.

Close combat penalties for firearms (especially heavy and long arms).

- In face to face combat where the other side is toting a firearm, a chance (manual triggering for the player, but chance based success) for the NPC to perform defensive move and shove the players gun and facing off and slightly stagger the player (and possibly then deliver a more damaging blow/s). This to remove the horrendous way it is now where... you know how it is, and possibly slightly improve closecombat.

Also, damage bonus for melee/HtH enemies (animals included) that come in numbers (overwhelm the player). One guy with a knife or one gecko might seem harmless to your assault rifle toting combatarmor wearing character, but if there are three or more, you better dispatch them before they reach you or you are in serious trouble no matter what armor you wear (if the DT eats all the damage, turn it into fatigue damage that'll eventually collapse the PC after which the foes start to pummel the "weak spots" in the armor and healt starts to drop).

Generally, turn up the damage done by weapons -- the previous situation might seem that it puts a melee oriented PC in a rougher than needed position, but if you are skilled enough, and if the damage values are higher, you may be able to drop one or two before they get to overwhelm you (if you see a group or powerarmored melee units, though, you might want to reconsider attacking them with melee yourself unless you are absolutely skilled and geared enough).

In addition, projectile weapon skills affecting accuracy, not damage (except for - possibly - higher critical dmg multipliers). And locational armor DT values (head, torso, feet, hands).

Enemies and the PC are generally more easily taken down by weapons (no more people eating 30 bullets or 50 stabs and still coming on strong), but only if you know how to use them.

Generally, in close combat, it is often preferable to use a firearm as a melee weapon. A great deal of physical damage can be done with the butt and the barrel (and raised front sights), and is especially true with longarms. Really the best way to defeat someone with a firearm when you don't have one is to get inside their effective engagement range and beat them down.

TL:DR, I agree with much of your post.

EDIT: Considering the pack attacks, keeping cool and rational would be the key. Animals that pack together for attack, like wolves, big cats, etc are inherently more effective in that they work together, so they should get an attack bonus, and IMO, not a small one either. On the player side, we really don't have a stat for something like willpower, but we'd like to model "keeping cool under pressure" which would modify the combat success calculations, especially under pack attack conditions.

Fallout 4 vehicals ?. Who would agree that if fallout4 came out it would need an even biger map with fully cusomiseabl vehicals . I think the game needs a little mad max mixed in with it . Walking and fast travel is nice and helpful but haveing. Customiseable 4x4s and muscle cars that you could have methanol plants on the towns and buy and trade fules and parts even have a still to make alcohol to run your vehicals off of . I would love to see this happen what do you guys think

I think that if there going to be vehicles by any sort, it's going to be powered by Micro-Fusion cells, as gas prices BEFORE the great war were around 6900$ for a gallon.

And I have no idea how much it translates into caps, even if there was oil based fuel, the quantities needed to make travel across the map would be huge, compared to the amount of fuel that is present in the area(again, assuming it would be also expensive).

Concrete wall .basicly a post apoc iron man suit this with a mobil vehical that could also be your save point aswell . I would like a few opinions on this guys its something I believe would be awesome in the game as well as help

This is tru about oil based fuels but I do rember in new vegas that there where corn stills used to make alcohol and that I have used in real life to run my cars as fuel ocatin booster and it works obviously you would have to build a still and collect the corn and yeast just like in new vegas but it could be a traded item as well as power upgrades like blowers tired misc stuff

Also as a fallout 4 most likely would be an entire new map there could be one last small oilfiled left protected by BoS and that is there trade good or natural gas . As far as combustables the posabilitys are endless even if every last drop of oil is gone . Even biodiesel can be made .that's why iam saying from a realistic stand point it could go ether way .but for being more realistic a combustable fuel would just add to the rrealism vs micro fusion cells .that was my point . I mean don't get me wrong fast travel is great and walking takes to dam long but if you have a vehical it meets that in the middle you can still do both but with vehicals you can enjoy the wasteland with out it takeing two days to walk across the map instead you could drive across it in half a day or however they scale it I just think customiseable vehicals and fully hydraulic power armor would be a badass adition to fallout 4

It would be fun to have the FO2-esque find the parts for the car quest, perhaps expanded a bit more, requiring science and repair skill, or finding someone with such skill, to put it all together. Vehicles, though, of any type should probably be limited in where they can go. After all, it's a valid complaint that there shouldn't be much left to scavenge 20 years after the war, but that would be especially true if you can drive right up to the site. FO2 had that right as well...with the car parked at the edge of the area.

RE our discussion concerning the starting cutscenes: I just started a new NV game and i've noticed that it wasn't the Doc sequence that bothers me, but rather the Sunny Smiles sequence, which can be skipped entirely. Someone mentioned this before and i had to see for myself.
