Upgrading to Windows 7, will I lose my game?

Hi everyone, I hope this is the right section to post in, I was wondering if I could ask some advice. I'm finally upgrading my crappy XP computer to Windows 7, but from what I read I have to reinstall everything afterwards. I read through the upgrading tutorial on the Microsoft website, but it's a lot of information to take in and it doesn't mention games. I have lots of mods in Skyrim and a char on level 40 I really don't want to lose. Will the game work if I just copy my current Skyrim data folder etc? Do I need to reinstall from Steam? Sorry if these questions are stupid or obvious but I'm a beginner and I'm totally confused! Can anyone help me? I want to be better informed before I go ahead and do something irreversible.

Thanks a lot!

Getting your saved games is the easier part. They are not in your Data folder though. You will likely find them in C:\(username)\Documents\My Games\Skyrim

you can just copy the entire "Saves" folder in that directory, and put it back on your new installation in the same spot.

Ive never tried to copy my entire mod folder though, since I backup the mods themselves when i download them. But I see no reason why you couldnt just copy the entire C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim folder and put it back in that same place after you reinstall skyrim.

Do you know if this also work with mods installed with the Nexus manager? Or would those have to be activated again? Sorry, this is veering out of hardware and into mods, but I thought I might as well ask.

Thanks for the reply!
