Crysis 3 Question

Post » Wed Jun 19, 2013 8:05 am

Quick question about the Crysis 3 campaign. I was wondering if it will be enjoyable without having played Crysis 1&2? I read the plot summary on wikipedia so I have a general knowledge of the events that happened in those games, can I play the Crysis 3 campaign without being completely clueless? Don't really want to go out and buy Crysis 1 & 2 because besides the campaign, the multiplayer is dead (at least thats what I heard).

So the events from Crysis 3 are not directly linked to Crysis 1/2? So Crysis 1/2 just provide a background setting for Crysis 3?

I wouldn't go into Crysis 3's story without the background knowledge of the previous games. Crysis 3 is a finale to the trilogy, it ties together all of the events of Crysis 1 and 2. It CAN stand on its own, but it doesn't stand well on its own. The quality of the story is severely diminished without first playing the previous games. Crysis 3 is pretty much just a finale, most of the meat of the story is in Crysis 1 and 2.

I never played the first game, but read up on the story and watched walkthroughs on youtube before buying the second game. I would suggest buying Crysis 2 just for the campaign (or *cough* "downloading it" *cough*), as it explains a lot of what happens in the third. The first one isn't necessary unless you would like to know more about the history of the 'Ceph' or what a Crysis game originally played like. Also, There's a 'Previously in Crysis' video in the Crysis 3 campaign menu that will explain most of what happened in the previous games.
