[Relz] Good Service

Post » Tue Apr 13, 2010 5:53 pm

This mod has been superceeded by Djangos Dialogue, http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1169829-relz-djangos-dialogue/

Originally the 'services' topic simply had one response per city, regardless of where you where. At best, it lacked a sense of place, at worst, it didn't even make sense - why would a mage tell you to look for the Mages Guild in a certain district of the city... when you were already in the Mages Guild. :facepalm: This mod adds several variants (Guilds, Temples, Great Houses etc) for every city and village except Vivec.

So say you're in Hlaalu Council Manor, and you ask about services. Originally, npcs would respond;
'Go to Hlaalu Council Manor for House Hlaalu services. Temple faithful go to the Balmora Temple. Outlanders go to Fort Moonmoth for the Imperial Legion and the Imperial cult southeast of town. Try Balmora Fighters Guild or Balmora Mages Guild. Morag Tong offers services. Better shops are in High Town on the hill. Plenty of merchants in the Commercial District, east of the river. And a few traders in Labor Town, west of the river.'

Now, they will respond; (filtered for pc House Hlaalu, natch)
'If you want to do business with the clan, you've come to the right place. The Temple faithful go to the Balmora Temple. Outlanders go to Fort Moonmoth for the Imperial Legion and the Imperial cult southeast of town. The Morag Tong offer services. The best shops are here in High Town. The Mages Guild and Fighters Guild, and plenty of merchants, are in the Commercial District, down the hill. And a few traders in Labor Town, west of the river.'

Hope that helps!

Thank you for this, Von Djangos. Will your next release cover Vivec? Does this also cover Tribunal and Bloodmoon expansions? What about Tamriel-Rebuilt? Will those be things you'll be considering in your next release?

I'd recommend having Vivec in the 2.0, but Trib, Blood, and T-R should be their own plugins. Not everybody plays with the GOTY or T-R.

Great work, Von!

This looks great, thanks! It always bothered me when people told me to go somewhere I already was.

Thanks for the kind words, guys. I will release an update, first covering Vivec in the basic sense (one for each canton - cant believe beth didnt cover this!), and then maybe location specific canton dialogue. I don't have plans for the expansions or TR at the moment.

Finally! It always annoyed me when NPCs referred to the place that you were already standing in like, "If you need such and such, talk to so and so who is in the building we are currently standing in." Um. Duh? I'm glad to see someone finally took the time to repair this- each little spark of realism in NPC dialog helps make them seem far less robotic and makes Morrowind more immersive. :D

Great mod.

I also went ahead and downloaded all your other morrowind mods (they look awesome). But I can't seem to give Sharn her package in "The Raven". She keeps talking about the other errand I did for her. The one from the MQ. Any addtopics I can use?

All of them, eh? Awesome. I'm definitely most proud of the tribe unmourned, so if you get to test that out, let me know what you think. Have you tried the 'Sorkvild the Raven' topic with her? Its been a while, but I think I changed the response to that topic in order to avoid mq conflicts. The quests pick up a little after that one :)
