Suddenly Skyrim does not even start

Post » Thu Jun 20, 2013 11:56 pm

A few days ago, my Skyrim just stopped starting. Right after the Bethesda logo, it just closes. I tried disabling mods I recently installed, but that did not help. I also found the "audio fix" thing on google search (to set device settings it as 24bit 44khz studio quality) to help there either. I tried reinstalling Steam, refreshing the Skyrim files... nothing.

This is in the papyrus log, if it helps at all, nothing more:

[06/19/2013 - 11:19:56PM] Papyrus log opened (PC)
[06/19/2013 - 11:19:56PM] Update budget: 1.200000ms (Extra tasklet budget: 1.200000ms, Load screen budget: 500.000000ms)
[06/19/2013 - 11:19:56PM] Memory page: 128 (min) 512 (max) 76800 (max total)

Any ideas?

EDIT: never mind, it WAS a mod that was looking for Hearthfire, which I don't have :)

Usually this is because the most recent save is corrupted. It tries to load the screenshot from that save when the launcher shows up.

Try archiving or deleting the most recent save and see if the game starts up. If it does, then exit out before you load the save, put your mods back on, then launch the game, then the save.

Usually when the game closes after the Bethesda logo, it's due to a load order problem.
