Large-scale heists?

Depends on how much money you get from them.

Maybe you can only rob each bank once or each time they may upgrade defences if it is repeatable.

I like robbing stuff but I want the reward to be great (because I stole from a ****** bank!) but not abused to where we get millions of septims.

So it should only be attemptable a few times a year/month or make it even harder each time.

Maybe the stuff should gradually replenish. Then the defences upgrade, and then people trust the bank more, so there are more valuable things in there.
I think that http://uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Scheduled_for_Execution, and a few of the other Dark Brotherhood/Thieve's Guild quests are good examples of what it should be like sneaking in.
I think that a very high sneak and lockpick (or you can pickpocket keys) skill will be needed to do it. And have a seperate vault that would be for "mega-vauluables", that would be lock 10 seconds after starting a fight, unless everybody involved in the fight is killed. Which will reward people for using stealth over slash-and-smash. :toughninja: :gun:
Maybe you can convince/bribe a guard into giving you information about the guard schedules. :cookie:
"Hey, I'm thinking about working here, can you tell about the hours or the shifts that I would have to work?"
