TES Sorcerer Build

Post » Sun Jun 23, 2013 7:16 am

I just fought Miraak with my stereotypical Nord warrior, and that made me want to make a sorcerer like build.

Race: Breton

Stone: Atronach

Major Skills: Destruction, Conjuration, Enchanting, Smithing

Minor Skills: Restoration, Heavy Armor, One-handed

Gear: This is where I need assistance. I know I don't want to have heavy armor on every slot: I was thinking robe, A Dragon Priest Mask, a sword of some type Heavy gauntlets and Boots.

I also don't want to use flesh spells.

Help: I will be playing the MQ, college and Dragonborn; I'll be playing him as a corrupt, power hungry dragonborn, so I want equipment that reflects that. And I also want tips on Attribute spread and which mask to use.

So, in summary:

What Priest mask (heavy) is best, including Dragonborn?

What kind of sword would fit, and is also good?

What Robes?

What boots and gauntlets?

What perks should I invest in?

Element Type?

Atronachs or Necromancy?

If you think my build could be improved, I don't mind some constructive criticism on skills and stones and whatnot.

I would suggest a 2-3 ratio for magicka and health allocation, you dont need stamina for the type of character you described.

For the dragon mask.. I would recommend the one that has +25% shock damage, Zahkriisos. It will help your damage output, and also it comes with a dark hood. I would recommend using Ulfrics clothes with Nordic Carved gauntlets and boots if you wanted heavy armor in those slots. The whole outfit looks good, black clothes/hood with steel mask, gauntlets, and boots, all with black fur trim,.

For a sword, just grab the highest damage one you can find, preferably with an absorb health or absorb magicka enchant.

For perks, you'll want conjuration and destruction to deal damage, with one-handed as well for your sword swings. I would also invest in enchanting, smithing(to make your gloves/boots/mask/sword stronger), Alteration for some sweet utility spells, and illusion. A few points in restoration goes a long way as well.

For a power crazed sorcerer I wouldnt quite do necromancy, summoning atronachs fits well, alongside destruction spells, If you have to choose an element to specialize in, shock is nice because very few enemies resist it, but fire is also great because the spells are cheaper and theres lots of undead in skyrim.

This is my Nord Sorcerer build. I tried to get a little creative and break the mold.

Alteration: Dual Cast, Magic Resistance 3/3, Stability, and Novice-Master

Conjuration: Summoner 2/2, Atromancy. Elemental Potency, Twin Souls, and Novice-Master

Destruction: All except for Rune Master

Restoration: All

Alchemy: Alchemist 5/5, Physician, Benefactor, Experimenter 3/3, Snake Blood, and Purity

Heavy Armor: Juggernaut 5/5, Well Fitted, Tower of Strength, Matching Set, and Reflect Blows

I took Alteration for the passives and the Flesh spells. Skip Atronach (and the Atronach Stone) if you plan on using summons. Conjuration for a pair of Flame Thralls to deal and take damage. Destruction is for burning or freezing things to help your Atronachs. Restoration so you won't die, blocking Dragon Shouts, and Turning Undead. Alchemy to get rid of the meta-gamey grinding factor of Smithing and Enchanting and because it'll always be a relevant skill as you consume your stock (you'll always be running out and making more). And Fortify Destruction Potions fix Destruction. Heavy Armor so that you won't get one shotted. Heavy Armor Perks + Flesh spells make it so you don't have to smith your armor... ever.

As far as what to wear... don't worry about it. Switch your gear up as you start finding better loot. Have fun.

I have a Breton/Atronach that's sort of a sorcerer in that he uses Destruction and 1H partial armor ( I guess this could also be a spellsword).

In any case what has been interesting is getting enchant to 100 ASAP with 60 in destruction. I was able to do that by level 25. At that point you make enchanted weapons with 138 elemental damage without any exploits. This is almost as much damage as a dual cast incinerate (or possibly more with high smithing) and much faster. It's like a high level touch spell. Using a dagger is even better for DPS since you deliver the enchanted damgae 30-40% faster.

It's not too bad except at the very end. I make a firery soul trap sword for Lydia and give her lots of empty soul gems. I buy all the cheaper soul gems I can find and disenchant everything I can as well. Just the disenchants can get you to 50 and getting to 85-90 is not bad. At 90, do the discerning the transmundane quest for 5 and struggle on to 100. In my case, I did it at 94 so I just had one to go.

edit: also, do your enchanting in batches so you can switch to the Mage stone and rest for 30% advantage.
