The Dwemer?

Post » Mon Jun 24, 2013 10:50 am

So after spending hundreds of hours within skyrim one question will always be on my mind, WHERE ARE THE DWEMER?! we have plundered their dungeons, looted their chests and yet I never see any hint as to where they went, I did abit of reading and saw they did just all disappear...like instantly if i read it coorectly? I was wondering if anyone knew of anything else on this topic or anything that may be added in the future as I really want to see these. I know DLC has stopped but its just a thought :P

The Dwemer merged themselves into the brass skin of their giant robot Numidium in an attempt to escape Mundus.

I thought they attempted to tap into the Heart of Lorkhan in order to get power like the Tribunal got.

Nope..

"Ah. I will tell you the truth, because you will believe none of it. The Brass God is Anumidum, the Prime Gestalt. He is also called the divine skin. He was meant to be used many times by our kind to transcend the Gray Maybe.

The first to see him was the Shop Foremer, Kagrenac of Vvardenfell, the wisest of the tonal architects [Mechanists - MN] Do not think as others do that Kagrenac created the Anumidum for petty motivations, such as a refutation of the gods. Kagrenac was devoted to his people, and the Dwarves, despite what you may have read, were a pious lot-he would not have sacrificed so many of their golden souls to create Anumidum's metal body if it were all in the name of grand theater. Kagrenac had even built the tools needed to construct a Mantella, the Crux of Transcendence. But, by then, and for a long time coming, the Doom of the Dwarves marched upon the Mountain and they were removed from this world."

The Dwemer, much like all of the Elven races, except the Dunmer and Orsimer, believe the mortal realm is a trap, and sought to escape it. And just like how the Altmer built Crystal-Like-Law, and the Bosmer built Falinesti, and the Left-Handed elves built Orichalc, and the Ayleids built White-Gold, the Dwemer built Numidium to help them in their goal. Numidium was built to serve as a means to reverse creation, and essentially anti-create the Dwemer race outside of Mundus.

The Final Report to Trebonius goes into far more detail about it them I could care to http://www.imperial-library.info/content/final-report-trebonius It is a good read.

It's questionable whether ALL of them are gone or went into the brass skin of Numidium. Yagrum Bagarn was able to avoid the fate of the other Dwemer by being in the Outer Realms at the time of the Dwemer's disappearance. The Master Conjuration trainer in Skyrim, Falion, mentions having conversed with Dwemer while traveling the Outer Planes.

As a flashback, I wouldn't mind. Pulling a Dawnguard will really rile up the lore community :ahhh:

A master conjurer he may be, but given how long the Dwemer have been gone, he probably wouldn't even know what one looked like. Even then, it may have been Yagrum himself that he met.

I find it a little hard to believe that a Redguard has met numerous Dwemer whilst traversing the planes in his life time, when Yagrum searched for a good thousand plus years.

Lore is the best way to understand the beauty of a game, I think

TES lore has always been my favorite lore in any fantasy setting. One of my fondest memories of Morrowind, was my mage reading all the books in Vivec's library. I also like how the lore doesn't follow Tolkien for the most part. For example: The Dwemer were not dwarves, but elves of average height; and elves are not beautiful like Tolkien's elves. They have there own distinct look, which really makes them look like a different species.

But I prefer the fate of the Dwemer to remain a mystery, it adds to their mystique.

Edit: Also consider this: Divayth Fyr (a 4,000 year old Dunmer wizard), Vivec and Sotha Sil (living gods) and Yagrum Bagrum, (last living dwarf). All four have spent part of their lifetimes seeking the Dwemer with no success, by traversing the planes of Oblivion.

You should also visit this site: http://www.imperial-library.info/ It has a ton of info on TES lore.
