Cool hideouts?

Post » Wed Apr 14, 2010 9:01 am

I've been thinking recently, to find a cool hideout and was thinking about the Riverboat that Nadine now owns. Point Lookout is really the only DLC I'd travel back too, so it would make sense to keep everything on the boat.
Would the items disappear from traveling back and forth?
Would items ever disappear from some sort of locker or even laying around?
Where are some cool hideouts you have/had and why did you choose them?
If applicable, why did you choose a new hideout?

My favourite 'hideout' is the Sniper Shack on the hill by Rockbreaker's Last Gas. There's lots of storage, a bed and you'll find some nice goodies inside, too. And it is actually kinda spacious; I can easily fit in 4 followers without it getting cramped.
Just be careful, though; the surrounding area is crawling with muties, Enclave soldiers and Talon Company/Regulators will follow you here.

I'm not sure about your first question, though. I assume it'd be safe to store things there, but I've never actually used it, sooo.....

I store stuff in the footlocker by the cot all the time when I go back and forth as a way to have things with me while I'm in PL and a way to get junk back from PL to the Wasteland. I've never lost anything on either end.

Lots of good places to put your stuff. I think it's just about finding one with the ambience you like. I mean, abandoned buildings, creepy caverns, empty towns, rusty old boats, shacks on clifftops... the wasteland's got it all.

I go with Grayditch because it's conveniently close to Rivet City, the Memorial, the Citadel, and Megaton. And once the ants are gone, it's safe and quiet; there are at most two other residents and they never leave their houses. I'm not saying it's best, I'm saying it's one of dozens or maybe hundreds of right answers.

I tried searching but once I didn't really know what to search so I just searched "hideout" and I got 0 hits, I tried something else and it was like, "uhhh for a completely [censored] reason, you can't search more than once every minute. Have a great day!!" and I was like, "screew this."

the mechanist forge is one of the cooler hiedouts in the game, there's a spot near vernon square that not many people know about, you have to go down in a manhole and its doesn't go to any sweres or metro tunnels, its a just 3 rooms down there, there are bed, refrigerator, plenty of containers and some loot, but in all my playthroughs i didn't find it until recently, it would make a good place to live, but there are super mutants around, its very close to the crater in vernon square.

Problem is that's only in Point Lookout not in the Capitol Wasteland, personally I don't want to take a month to travel there just to get my stuff.

Now for me I know there's no where to put your stuff but I love sleeping at the Washington Monument. I just love waking up in the morning with that beautiful view up in my window and feeling completely safe up there ( I also have a thing for "Highly Visible Landmarks"). As for my stuff I just usually keep it in my house. I have not found my special hiding place for my stuff yet but for now I am still looking.

Oh my God -- how could I forget about that set up? The forge has everything: storage, a nice, bed, cool decorations and if you have a high enough Science skill, your own personal robots! And I didn't mention the place has without a doubt that most awesome door in the game.

No, it isn't added by a mod. It is a vanilla location.
Spoiler
It is inside the http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Robot_Repair_Center, just south of Canterbury Commons.

Yeah, what the dude above me said. Though, try and hack the security systems to make all the Sentry Bots friendly towards you. Having RL-3 would be fitting, too.

Oh, and you MUST wear The Mechanist's Costume -- the most bad ass armour in the Capital Wasteland.

Well right now I'm in Point Lookout and I really like Blackhall Manor. Really big room, Queen Sized bed, and lots of space. I have discovered the Robot Repair Center but I never went in when I come back from my vacation in Point lookout I will def go there and check it out.
