I had the most amazing dragon battle today

Post » Tue Jun 25, 2013 9:30 pm

Earlier today I was fighting a dragon at Katla's farm for 2 hours.
I was on legendary using a hunting bow (not improved) and iron arrows.
I was using the buildings and the grain mill to get in cover and heal.
I kept being badly damaged by the fire breath attacks so I removed my banded iron armour after 20 minutes to move quicker. my character was fighting the dragon whilst naked.
Only 2 solitude guards were killed.
I used over 100 arrows and had a lot of help from lydia, the guards and farmers.

Best battle I have ever had.
I love this game because it still amazes me after 4,000+ hours.

Sounds badass. I played on Master when a duo of Legendary Dragons ambushed me. As I'm fighting an Ancient pops up out of nowhere. It was intense.

Two Dragons sounds fun, if We are actually aware of the second Dragon.

I will not forget watching a non-hostile Random Dragon flying in the distance, sheathing My characters (Bound) Weapons. A Second Dragon had landed out of sight and behind My character, becoming a chewtoy getting ragdolled is never fun.

I had another character that had just cleared a Bandit Fort in the Reach, when an Elder Dragon lands. My character begins an initial power attack on the first Dragon when a second Elder Dragon lands behind My character. My character turns and attacks the new Elder Dragon, then gets chomped from behind.

I do not have fond memories of the time one of My characters learned single word Stormcall just makes all of the Dragons very, very angry at Skuldafn :cold:

Reminds me when I started my 2 handed Orc who smashes everything. I played for a long time until I got the courier message saying something about the thu'um and the shouting. So he sent me to the dungeon that had King Olaf's verse for the Bards College. When I got there, I heard a faint roar, and thought nothing of it. So I complete the dungeon, I get out and HOLY CRAP FROST DRAGON. This was my first Frost Dragon(due to multiple characters and never getting very far) and I thought he was just one of those generic dragons. So I do my Leeroy Jenkins battle cry and charge in. He shoots me with frost breath twice and takes half my health, so I think "Okay, I'll just take a health potio-OH MY GOD I'M ALMOST OUT OF HEALTH POTIONS!!", I quickly panic because I realized the area I was in forced the Dragon to never land. So I die, obviously, and then I try again.......So then I die......try again, I start to get a bit....angry. By the third death, I'm on the verge of rage quitting, I check to see my saves and realize I'm pretty much stuck until I kill this abomination. I tried hiding at a nearby fisherman shack, with half health and no potions mind you. But I just can't stay inside forever, so LEEEROOOYYY JENKIIIIIINSSSS- and he eats me. So, I'm filled with anger at this point, never broken a controller before but I was probably going to. So, I respawn, I decided to Usain Bolt my way over to the fisherman shack. I see the Dragon finally decided to land. he takes 1/4 of my health, so here I am, hiding in a fisherman shack, just waiting. My health was regenerating so slowly I had to do something. And.....he landed. And.....I remembered something. "Wait, don't all races have powers or something? What was the Orc's power? Beserker something? Oh my.....Oh My....." I realized I had to take this chance....so......BESERKER RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGEEEEE, I give that terrible excuse of a dragon the worst beating of his life. I absorb his soul and feel like a complete....umm....awesome guy(don't remember if a certain word was censored). What was the lesson of this story? Don't farm Ralof for skills and levels at the beginning at the game so you don't get harder enemies early.

When I read the two hours bit I expected it to be followed by "all npcs were wiped out".

I like to have long, epic battles. But 2 hours is waaaaay over-kill. The longest battles I've had were Miraak at 15 minutes, Alduin at 30 minutes, and a random trio of Dragons at 30 - 40 minutes.

I was playing legendary here earlier, went over to Solsteim to try and get some heart stones for future, and got my butt kicked by a khajiit bum, he took me with one punch! I thought this was just a super kitty, but everyone seems to be invincible in this mode, I had to go back to novice like the panzy I am lol, still the giants are giving me some trouble while trying to level up, this game is difficult even at low levels, I should've just stayed at Angi's and watched the sky day after day

Reminds me the first time I got to the end of Skuldafn Temple, with the portal to Sovengarde at the end. In the last exterior zone, I was feeling pretty fatugied, so at around level 25 I ran past all the Draugr - first time I saw Deathlords. As I did so I saw the Dragon Preist there, Nahkriin, and we started fighting. Then the draugr showed up. Then they summoned ice atronachs. Then an Elder Dragon showed up... Then a Frost Dragon.... Then another standard. I was playing on Legendary at the time, with my main being what I consider a cross between a shock-trooper and shield unit (non-full glass armor at the time, spell-breaker, and an Iron Sword), so it was the best, and hardest battle I've ever gone through in the Elder Scrolls.

I love dragon battles when they last over 30 minutes.
It is an adept difficulty playthrough but I switch to legendary for dragon battles.
