Dialogue mechanics that need work

Post » Wed Jun 26, 2013 4:35 pm

I've seen in a few posts that people want to bring back the skill checks of new vegas to make the dialogue options better.

I reckon the solution lies in this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2QJVGtKPjNc from the good old extra credits series.

I would personally love to see a persuasion bar where you have to go through your list of evidence and justifications to prove your innocence or a list of compliments and jokes to make someone like you better. Making an argument like an intense battle would of been awesome! I can imagine Alduin and Parthanax arguing each other's legitimacy and why the dragons should follow one or the other.

What do you guys think?

Bethesda's games have always been kind of anti-social, I've always thought. They are more about killing people than talking to people. I would love, for the first time, to see some genuine social interaction in an Elder Scrolls game. I would love to be able to complete quests through Speechcraft and not combat. I would love to be able talk my way out of combat.

As long as none of this involves an Oblivion-style mini-game, I will be happy.

Skill checks are everything I loved about New Vegas. Not like it's incompatible with Elder Scrolls, either; there's already a scant few dialogue options dependent on perks (Have you mastered the expert level destruction spells yet?).

Making speechcraft a bit more involved would be nice, too.
