Question about changing armor color

Post » Sun Jun 30, 2013 2:06 pm

Alright guys here is my issue... I'm trying to alter armor colors, etc. and have managed to get them to appear in game. Ex: I made the wolf armor darker, and it appears like that on everyone including my character, but if I zoom the camera back the colors revert to their default scheme. It works both ways, zoom in and it's the modified color, zoom out back to default.

I'm completely new to texture editing so any help would be appreciated.

BTW here is how I did this in case I missed something

Extracted textures.bsa to my desktop

loaded GIMP with the dds plugin

opened the wolfarmorm.dds

changed the color scheme

exported the modified texture in .dds format

made the proper folder chain: Data/textures/armor/wolf

put the new texture in the folder

If I'm missing anything please let me know

thanks in advance

That's the mipmaps, which are lower size variants of the image that are displayed at greater distances. Mipmaps are embedded in the texture itself but when you load up the .dds the default settings usually have them hidden, and when you save your .dds you are usually given the option of automatically generating the mipmaps as well.

Thanks for your reply Gecko. So I DO NOT want to use the existing mipmaps. I want to generate mipmaps.

IT worked and you sir/ma'am are awesome
