Is there a way to let the computer play Skyrim?

Post » Wed Jul 03, 2013 12:39 pm

I remember playing a small game a long time ago called “IdleQuest” or something like that. I don't remember the exact name. There are also some similar games on IRC channels that don't require any user interaction.

The game was fully automatic and played itself. You could just sit back and watch how your character completed various quests and leveled up automatically, without having to do anything yourself. He/she would then proceed to sell all the loot and buy better items and continued to improve indefinitely.

I was wondering if there is a way (a console command or a mod perhaps?) to do the same for Skyrim. Is there a way to let the game play itself, either fully or partially?

It would be fun to see how a computer would play Skyrim.

Next game maybe. With gamers becoming lazier I wouldn't be surprised if the next game played itself.

I don't think that's possible with Skyrim.

Doesn't sound like fun to me. If I were you, I'd watch some let's plays on Youtube instead.

I was thinking of letting the computer complete all the boring/simplistic quests for me. :prod:

At least it should able to do that, no?

Thanks for the suggestion, but I've already watched quite a few of them.

There's no 'should' about it. There's no obligation on Bethesda to provide a feature where quests are completed for the player like this. If you're on computer, just use console commands to 'complete' the quests you don't want to do yourself. As for console players, I'm not sure how many of them would be bothered with a feature like that. Bethesda need to focus on more serious issues such as reducing bugs and glitches in their retail releases.

Wellt the computer does the fast travel for you. You want more?

You do have Companions that will do the rest for you... just point them in the right direction.

Switch to 3rd person view and you can watch yourself watching them do all your battles for you. :teehee:

To me, that just defeats the purpose of what games are - interactive entertainment.

Why not just give the controller to someone else to play it for you, or as someone else has suggested, watching videos on Youtube. But if you are already bored of watching these Youtube videos, what good would it be if a glitchy and simplitic AI played it for you!?
