Heavy ArmorLight Armor

Post » Wed Jul 03, 2013 5:40 am

I don't really like the looks of Light Armor, or at least most of them. I only like Fur, Scaled (kinda... it's kinda weird when running), Forsworn (only on women) and Stormcloack officer. On the other hand, I like the look of many Heavy Armors. Will I get punished for using Heavy Armor with my build (Archery, One-handed, the ocasional Sneak, Conjuration, Alchemy, Enchanting, Smithing)?

What about a mixture, would it work well?

You'll be fine. My Heavy Armored Nord uses Sneak since I need a form of ranged attacks.

Also, why do you need all three crafting skills? You're just asking to become OP.

This is the Elder Scrolls which is always about the consequences and making it work despite them. If you feel this combo is going to bring you gaming joy then go for it. You can always change your characters style if you don't like the way things are developing.

Yeah I know... That part was just IF I went for the mixture.. I'm not sure yet, tryin to get Stormcloak officer armor to decide.. I just prefer light because of the "gladiator look"..

Hum that's true. Thanks :)

My Nord uses a mix if sword+shield, archery and sneak while wearing heavy armor, and hasn't been "punished" by doing so. I went heavy armor with him, mainly due to looks, and I never felt handicapped when trying to sneak or use archery.

If you're worried about not being able to sneak well in heavy armor, just svck it up until you gain a few levels in sneak and it won't matter. Muffle helps too.

As for heavy armor slowing you down, either pick up the conditioning perk, or the Steed Stone.

There are perks that increase your armor rating by 25% when using all heavy/light armor, and another for using a set of armor. To get the bonuses, you don't want to mix both light and heavy armor. Just pick a type and stick with it.

I do know that stuff, but I'm not thinking about going for those perks. Probably I'll just go for the 5/5 one and nothing else, using the steed stone.

Yeah, don't worry about sneaking in heavy armor. While light armor does make it easier, it's perfectly doable in heavy.

The only things you really lose are the perks that grant 25% bonuses for exclusive and matching sets of either heavy or light armor, but it you're looking to avoid becoming overpowered, don't sweat it.

Yeah dawnguard and Thieves guild (although I can't enchant it and the enchants kinda svck) are nice too. Nightingale I don't like so much, I think the cape acts stupid and I hate the mask on the hood.

I'm not really worried 'cause I guess that if I really have to I can use whatever armor I feel like and get it overpowered with any loop.

I don't see how Heavy Armor would interfere with any of the skills you mentioned.
