I never had it open, I changed everything in Notepad. So, do I just start it up and that's it?

I changed it back to what I originally had, but it's still slow indoors.

i haven't read of a definite fix, most people report that it is choppy in most houses/taverns/guilds. what are your computer specs?

A faster CPU or more DOSBox cycles are the answer.

Play Daggerfall on a 100MHz DOS computer and it will be relatively choppy in taverns/guilds too, while the outdoor area & dungeons are fine. Especially the large taverns with lots of wooden beams in them.

It's the Daggerfall engine, XnGine. Whilst it is a true 3D engine, it's not that optimized at complex geometry (such as stacked floors and decorations found often in taverns and palaces).

This came out a year after Quake, and the Quake engine would have made such a stronger base. But Bethesda seems to be against using any revolutionary engines, and always using less-reputable ones or their own in-house technology. :shrug:

Quake was released in june 1996 and Daggerfall was released in august 1996. And Future Shock, the first XnGine game, was released in 1995.

It's running smoothly again. I deleted some programs that I don't use and also, my desktop theme. I think it will stay like this for good now. :)
