Your character from oblivion....

Post » Wed Apr 14, 2010 6:44 pm

i know it is very unlikely that this will be implemented into the game. However, it would be interesting to see our character from oblivion make an apperance or is at least mentioned in the game.
If he/she did make it into the game how would you like to see it implemented.

I personally would like a mass effect save system to be in the game by some sort of miracle. I would copy across my character, then murder him in an epic battle on top of the highest mountain in the Skyrim. :)

Considering it is 300 years after Oblivion your character would already be dead.

He will probably be referenced to, like the Nerevarine was in oblivion, but for roleplay reasons I think it would be best if he only showed up in books or conversation.

edit: 300 years or not, its very likely my character still lives. Hes an Altmer. Divayth Fyr lived for at least 4000 years and hes a Dunmer, so of lesser blood.

Game characters are mentioned in subsequent games but the references need to be kept vague since Bethesda has no idea how you played the character.

Allowing characters to be imported immediately restricts the character system - for example Bethesda couldn't easily add, remove, or heavily modify any skills since this would cause problems with bringing Oblivion characters over. Allowing a character to be brought over as an NPC sidesteps this issue but would require having the same face system. TES IV's implementation of facegen is often criticized (and FO3 had a much more refined implementation) so I don't see them allowing this.

Bleah. Nah, let's not go there. The Champion of Cyrodiil, Arch-Mage, Fighter's Guild Master, Gray Fox, Listener of the Dark Brotherhood has had a good, eventful life. It won't hurt to let someone else take some glory and have some adventures, whether Skyrim is years after Oblivion or minutes.

Best well probably ever see?

"They say that Sheogorath has changed since the Oblivion Crisis."

"Of course, with Sheogorath, who can tell?"

Who knows what kind of effects the new Cane of Sheogorath has on a mortal? We all know that the Daedra cannot create, but only change, and certainly turning a Mortal into a Daedra Prince (or something very close to one) would *probably* be within their power... they would just need a reason to do so.

I hope not! oO

That harlet would have bought all possible homes and cleansed all interesting dungeons before I'd even hit level 2!

I actually preferred Oblivion's faces over Fallouts. The hair in Fallout looked heavily illustrated and just poorly done overall. The eyes looked lifeless in Fallout too, extremely cloudy and lacking distinction between iris and pupil... I felt as if Fallout 3's faces relied more on texture as Oblivions relied more on shape...maybe its just me...I don't know..

In terms of adding your previous character to the game. It'd be interesting if (on a console) Skyrim read your old oblivion files and chose the most recent save game, and simply imported the race and gender...and possibly the hero name according to the save game name and data.

Making such a program/script would be a waste of time for a simple easter egg, though.

It would be interesting if there were books about the Daedric Invasion and your characters heroic acts. Obviously it wouldn't have your character's name or race, but it would be cool if there was just a mention about the previous game's events.
