Hey guys, so I wrote a fan fiction story about the United Kingdom during the Great War way back when but I kind of messed the thing up, so I wanted to breathe some life back into the story by rebooting it. I have changed up a lot of the silly details and it will hopefully be a more accurate tale of what happened to the UK during the Great War, and what takes place afterward, so with this I will begin.

This thread is sort of a test to see if anyone is still interested in reading. Criticism is very much welcome.

The Preface is the only thing you really need to read if you want to get an idea of the story. The timeline is for use of the myself and the reader once the story begins to get a grasp on why certain things are the way they are in the story. The timeline really "falloutifies" the story and informs you as to why some characters have power armor and such. Enjoy

Preface

The Sunders.

A fabled “nation of ghouls” lying just along what was once the European coastline, untouched by time, and forever preserved in the ambient wake of nuclear fallout. Like much of the world, the skies of the Sunders were imprinted with a faded shade of green, and the clouds were a permanent ashen gray. Hundreds of thousands of people had called this place home. Before the devastation of the Great War, the Sunders were the epitome of regal decadence and pre-war luxury. The new wasteland is now littered with what was left of royal palaces, and castles. Entire buildings made strictly of marble and other fine materials had still stood strong, despite their age. The Sunders were once a nation-metropolis of grand beauty, and a man-made land of human aesthetic. But the Sunders were precisely that, sundered by the hand of nuclear war.

Timeline

In the April of 2052, what were once called the “Resource Wars” had begun. The entire planet had raced to win control of what was considered to be the final basin of oil on Earth. As the Middle East fought to defend their remaining assets, tensions rose amongst the members of the United Nations. By June, the United Kingdom as a whole – with few other countries, most notably Ireland – had pulled out of the U.N. The Resource Wars had carried on, and near the end of July in 2052, the United Nations had officially disbanded. In December of 2053, the United Kingdom – under the radical new leadership of “The True Parliament” – had launched a terror attack on Tel Aviv, which devastated the region and asserted the Kingdom’s military might. Near the beginning of 2054, the United Kingdom had undergone immense changes in government. The True Parliament had reigned over the Kingdom with ferocity, and united the various nations of the Kingdom into one super nation, now called the Royal Axis. At this time, limited nuclear exchange in the Middle East raised fears across the globe, and the Axis mysteriously pulled out of the Resource Wars.

By March of 2054, the Royal Axis had proposed annexation of Ireland, despite the rise of the New Plague. Then, by July of 2055, Ireland salvaged the remainder of its own resources and joined the Royal Axis in fear of being unable to sustain itself in the midst of the war. In the year 2060, the war in the Middle East ended, as the oil fields ran dry. There was no longer a goal in the conflict, and both sides were reduced almost to ruin. In the middle of all of this, the Royal Axis maintained itself through isolation and barricading their coastline. The quarreling nation-states of Europe then fought over remaining resources, and at this same time, the Axis initiated a nuclear storage project codenamed “PRAESTRICTUS”, tunneling into their metro systems.

March 2061, the Royal Axis began international espionage of nearly every major county in search of military secrets. With this, the Axis discovered fueling tension between China and the United States. In October of the same year, the Axis discovered the locations of many Chinese and American research facilities, including Big Mountain Research and Development Center. By December, nuclear scares within the Axis called for the construction of nuclear weapons to match those of the US and China combined. Then, in late 2062, the Axis had raised international gas and oil prices to over $7,000 per gallon, purposefully to ensure all energy goes towards the PRAESTRICTUS project. However, difficulties in the metro causes cave collapses, and opens many sinkholes to the surface.

In 2069, the Royal Axis discovered schematics for the BOMB-001 facility and began construction on their own orbital missile stations, codenamed the CREPITUS project. In the same year, project PRAESTRICTUS was completed. The Axis then instituted a nationwide quarantine in order to transfer the nuclear arms to the metro facilities. During this time, riots began in the streets of London, as people feared the True Parliament were not standing up to the threats other nations had posed. British soldiers began firing on civilians, and Buckingham Palace along with the Big Ben were closed down for use as military checkpoints. In 2072, the Royal Axis was put under question by the European Union as suspicions rose from the Axis’ silence over the years. The Axis was quick to pull out of the EU, and the other nations threatened war. The Axis countered with possible nuclear exchange, and the EU backed down.

In 2076, seven American cargo planes carrying the FEV virus were shot down in British airspace. No cleanup was initiated, nor were the planes salvaged as there were simply not enough resources to do so. The Axis spent the last of its funds importing American power armor prototypes through the black market, as well as civil arms. Transfer vehicles were crashed and raided, and civilians roamed free, heavily armed. In early 2077, a meteor storm destroyed the Axis National Penitentiary and was overrun by its inmates. Crime rates soared, and a New Plague outbreak killed over 30% of the British population. In July of 2077, the CREPITUS project was completed and on August 14^th of the same year, the President of the United States was assassinated by obvious Axis means. On August 22^nd, the Vice President was sworn in and the legislature allowed the US to invade the Royal Axis. With this, the US fired the very first ballistic orbital missile attack on the Axis, and Manchester was destroyed on November 6^th. On November 11^th The Axis responded by firing the second and third orbital attacks, destroying the cities of Boston and Houston. Exchange between the US and the Axis ceased.

On October 21^st the Royal Axis cleared out the remainder of people living north of the River Thames by unleashing poison gas in the streets. The remainder of the Axis’ population was now living either south of the River Thames, or in the new province of Ireland.

On October 23^rd the Great War began. China and the US exchange fire for the first few moments as other countries begin to join in. On this day, at 12:35PM, US spies had sabotaged the Axis’ arsenal of nuclear arms. At 1:24PM, the entire arsenal beneath the country of the Axis had prematurely ignited, and the entirety of the Axis was devastated. At 2:35PM, the Great War ended, and scarred the majority of the planet. The Royal Axis in particular, was devastated beyond habitability.
