do you agree that skyrims are a little too chatty?

Post » Sat Jul 06, 2013 7:27 pm

it sems like you can't walk past anyone in skyrim without them suddenly start talking to you even when your not even facing them?

or if your doing something or talking to another npc and they walk up to and interupt you.

sorry about my typo in the header i men't "skyrim's npcs"

You don't like the fact that they tell you their life stories?

Perhaps they are, but it's not really anything new to games like these.

I hate being conversation trapped! Sneaking/walking past someone only to be forced into conversation mode and then being given a quest if I don't tab out fast enough! [On Pc]

This is true. I'm playing a vanilla game of Oblivion now and the incessant pvssyr in the Market District is driving me crazy. It drove me crazy in Morrowind too.

Sometimes I think people would just shut up, but then at other times I think that I'd rather listen to the same old stories than always walk a dead silent street.

Skyrim is very quiet and peaceful compared to Dragon's Dogma.
Anyone who has played it knows exactly what I mean.

Although, yes, it is a lot nosier than Morrowind. But it's not to a degree that drives me crazy.

the only person who annoys me when they walk past is Nazeem.

A little, although it seems to bother others more than it bothers me. I think the simple solution is to have NPCs use generic greetings as you pass them, and only trigger the 'life story' dialogue when you 'activate' them.

Demeter can't enter the Vilemyr Inn without the whole," You don't look like a pilgrim..."

At least we don't have the whole Stalker situation...

"Get out of here Stalker. Get out of here Stalker."

"I said come in, don't just stand there."

Over and over...even though by now they are beloved characters and it just wouldn't be the same without their ramblings.

I find Whiterun has the most annoying "passers by".

Nazeem, the Battleborns, Nazeem's wife, Belethor's assistant, the old woman who's a friend of Maven. To name but a few. :stare:

Edit: Oh and that farmer who feels a nip in the air!

I'd rather have them too chatty instead of quiet. It'd be kind of creepy, especially since it's a 1P game.

Eventually you will know all their backgrounds, and know what's what.
