Need help fixing mod! Persistent issue.

Post » Sun Jul 07, 2013 2:16 pm

Alrighty, I made a post earlier hoping to clean out my mods and fix this problem. I used Tes5Edit, cleaned all of my files, everything changed back to normal except the area right around my Hearthfire home Lakeview Manor. I then deleted my mods, (which weren't that important to me, I"m just starting and figuring things out) and still nothing. So a problem must be with the master files. Well I tried cleaning them too. Nothing! Anyone have any idea of whats going on? Or does anyone know if I can load Archive files or something to get my hearthfire home back to normal. If I have to rebuild my house and everything that would be fine, I'm just extremely frustrated with my work bench and carriage driver being underground, the level being off on the front door so the bottom part of it is covered, my animal pin is gone, and there's a gap in the cliff side and ground level on the left side of the house.

Thanks!

Have you tried verifying your local files through Steam, to make it re-acquire the masters that were changed? This will wipe out your TES5Edit cleaning as well as the changes you made to the masters, but it may be the only way to get your game back to normal.

Go into your Steam library and right-click on Skyrim. Select Properties at the bottom of the menu that pops up. Click the Local Files tab in the window that opens, and then click the "Verify Integrity of Game Cache ..." button on the page. Steam should check your files and download default copies of any that have been changed.

Tip - in the future, when making changes to master files (including cleaning with TES5Edit), always make backup copies of the files you're working on first. That way if something goes wrong you can easily restore them.

I'm no means an expert with the CK, but I have poked around in it a little. You need to tell it to save a copy of any file you're working with before you start editing.

http://www.creationkit.com/ is to the official CK page. It has a number of tutorials that introduce you to the CK by walking you through creating a basic dungeon. They're well worth checking out, and if you have any other questions, there are plenty of folks around who do know how to really use it and will be glad to help you.
