"Failed to initialize renderer" Error. Game crash

Post » Tue Jul 09, 2013 3:31 am

I've just finished creating a partition on my Late 2008 Macbook Pro for Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit. I own the steam version of Fallout 3 and downloaded it, however everytime I press play in the startup menu, the game's window glitches out for several seconds and then a box appears saying *Failed to initialize renderer.* I've already tried everything suggested in the Windows 7/8 PC fix thread created by a mod on this forum, but nothing on that thread fixes the problem. The most common fix I see online is the "Multi-core, change your .ini file to fix." Along with that, all of my drivers are up to date. Take note, Fallout 3 has worked on my machine before so don't go saying that it's impossible.

System Specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.55 Ghz

Nvidia 9600m GT

512 MB of VRam

4 Gigs of Ram

300 GB hard drive space (80 on windows partition)

If I'm forgetting anything just tell me

I've seen some posts around here about the newer Nvidia drivers not playing well with some of the older cards in the product line, especially with older games such as Fallout 3. Maybe rolling back to an older driver version will help.
