Generally speaking, it's way more effective to specialize in a few skills and their relative perks than to try and be average at everything. This might seem restrictive, but in terms of role-playing, this can actually be a lot of fun. So I wanted to ask, what're your guys' favorite character archetypes? And by "archetype," I mean, what set of skills do you put the most work into? Which perks do you pick for it? And which weapons do you use that reflect those choices? I'll go first with my first three characters.
Grunt: Obviously based around the perk, I go with high Guns and Explosives skills and just go crazy on everything. This build is even cooler with Antistar's hilariously BA Dragonskin armor mod. Conceptually, I play as a modern soldier.
Weapons: Maria, Assault Carbine (Colt Commando for FOOK/PN users), Mercy
GI: This one's similar to the Grunt build, but I only use weapons that would've been available to soldiers in World War II. This means battle rifles and frag grenades all over the place. I just wish someone would make an armor mod based off of WWII uniforms.
Weapons: A Light Shining in Darkness, Automatic Rifle, This Machine, Esther (if I'm desperate)
Hunter: This was the character that I made my first playthrough. With the Cowboy perk, I spec this character so that he's a lot more fragile than either of the previous two mentioned builds, but can takes out enemies quickly and efficiently from a distance with a heavy emphasis on AP regeneration and crit chance/damage.
Weapons: That Gun, Medicine Stick, Hunting Rifle
Huh... now that I think about it, none of the characters I've built are terribly creative . Regardless, planning and executing a well-organized build is really fun for me, and I was hoping that I could get your guys' own takes on character archetypes. How do you guys play melee/unarmed characters, or characters with heavy weapons/armor? Thanks in advance for any responses!
