Melting land...

Post » Tue Jul 09, 2013 12:20 pm

I've been getting a graphics problem for a while, where the ground cell or so away looks like it's melting ; it sort of cuts away, looking like it's slipping downwards into a hole and then redraws in a slightly different location as I walk.

Any ideas what might be causing this? I've just run the 4GB patch for what may be the second time, and was inadvertently until recently running both quadratic and linear graphic modes in the .ini file, but clearing this up hasn't helped. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do to fix this?

This is a problem where one mod changes the land and it interferes with another mod. Load Order can solve this sometimes, other times, you just have to ignore the issue. See the readme's as they might have some advice as to where to load the mod.

Also, playing the game with as few mods that change landscape as possible is another way. If you want to play multiple land changing mods, then have multiple saves that you can put the mods on for each play.

Edit, this technically known as the Ground Tearing, not melting :)

Ah, glad I've got the right name for it now!

The thing is, it's only started happening recently, and I haven't changed the load order or number of mods I've been using. Could something "trigger" it?

I've also checked Warnings.txt, and it's coming up with "Texture "Textures\_land_default.tga" count 3", which might be the problem. But I can only find one copy of _land_default.tga in my Data Files. How is the program duplicating it?
