Regarding time limits

Post » Wed Jul 10, 2013 6:10 am

This belongs in Fallout 4 Speculations Suggestions and Ideas, but as that is locked at the time of this posting, and I feel inspired to reply to this, here goes. Mods do lock or merge or whatever as you see fit.

I would not exactly say that I am a convert to your idea. But provided it is executed well and in the manner you have outlined, and the deadlines are not arbitrary and detached from the story, I could live with that. I just don't want to end up locked out of the main quest line. Point well stated.

The trick is balance. Too big a time limit and it serves no purpose, too small and it becomes difficult and makes people afraid to explore the game more. While I love open world RPGs, there is no real sense of urgency while you're playing them. I think it would be nice to have certain quests with a time limit to give them a sense of urgency, like when you have to escape the Madre's Vault.

Im not into time limits. Expecially on first time playing and most people play games only once, people cant know how much time they really can use on exploration without failing the mission. That takes lots of fun and just adds stress to the game. Games are meant to be fun, not stress creators.

Timed things are sometimes ok, but should be avoided if possible. They should not render hours of gaming to useless.
