What is your preferred play style with a Dunmer?

Post » Wed Jul 10, 2013 12:37 pm

Just wondering what people prefer to play with their Dunmer characters on Skyrim.

Typically the Dunmer characters aren't really devoted to any particular play style in TES games. They have mixed skill bonuses and don't have an obvious specialisation like most of the other races. In Morrowind, they really did have a bit of everything, whereas in Skyrim the emphasis is more on magic and stealth.

So I'm just curious as to what people typically play when they are RPing a Dunmer character. I've attached a poll to the post but I'd also like to read people's comments about their Dunmer characters as well, so please do post to elaborate on your poll selection!

Thanks! :tes:

I'll be making a Dunmer after my Nord is finished with his story.

He'll be using Destruction (Fire and eventually Shock), Alteration, Restoration, Conjuration, and a bit of Illusion.

Stealth and Magic. Thats how I would describe my Dunmer character. Mainly uses destruction, illusion, conjuration, but sneaks around a lot and sneak attacks with spells(with a mod).

Don't play Dunmer much, but when I do I usually take this approach.

You listed Stealth & Magic but not Combat & Magic, i.e. a spellsword or batlemage. In previous games, the Dunmer were natural spellswords, and I still think of them that way, even though they no longer start with any combat skill bonuses. I've only created one Dunmer in Skyrim, and she's a spellsword. My Oblivion Dunmer is a spellsword too (a custom build). My Morrowind Dumner is a standard nightblade but I play her like a spellsword. I like to cast some spells to soften up the enemy or fortify myself and then charge in with weapon and shield to finish things. Or, lately, let my flame atronach do all the work while I collect the loot.
