Ultimate Edition Crashes

Hello!

First of all, sorry for my bad english.

I’ve installed Fallout New Vegas Ultimate Edition (digital) and I’m having some troubles that makes the game pretty much unplayable (sound looping and freezing). The only way to end it is hard restart.

This is a YouTube video with the same crash. The video is from BFBC 2, but this happens to me in FNV exactly the same: /watch?v=vW88cJaxXvs

Im playing the game on a Windows 7 64 PC, with a Intel Core Quad CPU Q6600 (2’40 GHz), 4 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 and ASUS Xonar D2X Sound Card. All the drivers are up to date. I have no mods installed in the game.

I’ve tried to Verify the integrity of game cache which reported one file need to be fixed. Steam appears to download the file, but when I run the integrity check again, Steam reported that the same file need to be fixed (ifinite loop). Te file is InstallScript.vdf.

This is the only game I’m having problems with, so it is not a RAM or temperature problem (I can play Tomb Raider 2013, BioShock infinite and many others for hours without crashes).

The last time I played Fallout NV was in 2011 on a Windows XP system , with a Intel Core Quad CPU Q6600 (2’40 GHz), 4 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX and Creative Sound Blaster AUDIGY 2 ZS Sound Card, and the game runs perfectly. Last week I decided to play it again and I purchased the Ultimate Edition to get all the DLCs. I’m saying that because i know that this game is an “enemy” of 4 cores. In 2011 I had 4 cores (like today) and the game works fine.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Xonar soundcards and GX mode have been known to cause crashes. Try disabling GX mode.

I have a phenom II x4 cpu and the game runs fine for me.
