Is my fire spell damage bugged its OP on Legendary

Post » Fri Jul 12, 2013 8:37 am

I have the perks Augmented fire, Augmented frost and Augmented shock. I put 1 perk in each of them which increase the spell type by 25% extra damage.

Flames is doing 20 damage per second.
frostbite is doing 10 damage per second
sparks is doing 10 damage per second.

firebolt is doing 41 damage.
ice spike is doing 31 damage.
lightning bolt is doing 31 damage.

all runes are doing 50 so they are ok.

I am not wearing anything to improve fire damage but for some reason it does 10 extra damage. Dual casting Flames is quite OP on legendary even without the impact perk.

I need to get higher level spells to see if it is effecting them too.

All Fire Spells do an additional 10% Burning Damage if they are used for more than 1 second on any opponent, but the 10% is bugged.

The Illusion perk Aspect of Terror adds 10 points to some fire spells.

One of My Oldest characters that I did seriously Roleplay with was significantly more powerful as a Pyromancer when Skyrim was released, due to the glitches in the Game. She is now having to focus on Conjuration because of getting squished a lot. The character did enjoy Aspect of Terror, The Necromage Perk working on Herself, and Cloak Spells being able to kill off distant lower level opponents because of Perks and Bonuses stacking.

Enjoy it while it lasts, Destruction is a lot of fun when it is still effective as a means of attack :flamethrower:

Isn't it the normal tool tip? The damage deal to enemies us calculated during the application.

Yes, I meant that they will always say that, but the damage you deal will still be adjusted behind the scenes when used

I havent been using flame spells much. I just tested it on a deathlord on legendary and it was easy. My character mostly uses frost magic.

It has to be Aspect of Terror. It has the side-effect of making both flames and firebolt getting doubled. All other fire-spells are unaffected. Just those two.

What you're describing is exactly what Aspect of Terror does. I just tested it at around 50+ Destruction and using the perks you described. All of those spells have the same damage until I take Aspect of Terror, after which the fire spells do 10 more damage than the frost/shock spells. If you don't have Aspect of Terror, then you've got some weird bug going on.

Also: 44 damage per second should not make things "easy" on Legendary. I tested dual-cast 20-damage Flames on a Deathlord, and his health barely budged after I drained all my magicka. In fact, hitting a Deathlord with a 200+ damage weapon only reduces his health by about 1/20th.

The spell books they stock are based on your skill level in the related spell school, so that's actually normal. You need to be at or near the skill level required the 1/2 cost perk for the spell rank(novice, apprentice, adept, etc.).

So, for example, you might need around 65-75 conjuration for conjure dremora lord to be available from the conjuration guy @ the college, 65-75 illusion for invisibility from the illusion guy, and so on.

Purchasable spell tomes are dependent on level, e.g expert destruction spells are sold at COW at level 65 destruction skill.
