» Fri Jul 12, 2013 10:59 pm I am having an issue with the quest "Bloodline" for the Dawnguard DLC. It's posted as a bug on wiki. Just as you are supposed to enter the castle for the first time with Serana the loadscreen loads for about 20-30 seconds and then it crashes to desktop. This has happened to me about a dozen times or so. I've played through the entire Dawnguard questline several times before. I use mods and I've done this with a different assortment of mods with no problem.
The only thing I can think of Is that I've played through Dawnguard before the last few updates for Skyrim. I don't know what version I last had a successful run with. Now I try to limit my mods, but that doesn't seem to make a difference. I use TES5Edit to check what needs cleaning. I use BOSS for load order and checking for updates/patches. The only thing I haven't tried is playing with no mods at all. I've tried to play through "Bloodline" with just body replacers which I've used before with no issues, but now it just won't work.
I really miss playing this expansion and I wish there was a way to get it working again without the loss of some very basic mods. There are some great vampire mods I'd love to try, but without being able to get into Castle Volkihar because of CTDs, there's really no point trying. This also prevents me from the Vampire Lord mode. Is vanilla Skyrim my only option?
