Daggerfall: Declining Quests/ Guild Quests

Post » Thu Apr 15, 2010 6:04 pm

I went into the Fighters Guild and got signed up, then I wanted to Get a Quest. One of them required doing something IN town, so I declined it, I wanted a dungeon crawler. Then I got a dungeon crawler quest and accepted it.

I know that some quests, especially dealing with the Main Quest, is if you decline that, you're pretty much screwed and cant continue the Main Quest unless if you go back to an earlier save or restart the game. BUT What happens when you decline the quests for perhaps the guild that you're in?? Do they gradually like you LESS, or does it affect anything at all?

And I would also like to know what would happen if you decline quests from regular people, commoners, etc. The usual random "Ask for Work" quest. Do they like you less, or do you get any penalties?

I would really appreciate your answers :)

Also - without starting another topic, how do I install or use FixSave ? Idk how this works or where to put it?

A rumor went around that declining guild/temple quests lowered your reputation. I don't think it was proven.

When doing quests for the School of Julianos, I was doing the opposite of what you were doing. I wanted to find quests in town as I was pretty weak at the time. My reputation didn't seem to really drop. Who knows, maybe it does drop, but if so, it must be something like 1/4th a faction point is reducted when you reject a quest offer.

You run FixSave like any other DOS program. Put it in your DAGGER directory and enter its name through DOSBox.

Alright, thank you. I'll see if that FixSave works... Once its in the directory and use it, does it ever run automatically after that? That would be great if I could set it up like that...

You can refuse quests untill you get one you like without damaging your reputation. The only things that tend to lower your reputation with a faction are failing the quests and not doing the quests for more than a month or so. I think the Thieves Guild and the Dark Brotherhood might kick you out though.

I've declined Thieve' Guild quests before. Nothing happened to me, and I don't think the guild likes me any less.

It doesn't run on its own. You should only run it if you have problems loading your saves.

Also, always keep your saves (all six SAVE# folders as I think they can corrupt one another if some are missing) backed up because one time I had FixSave break a save slot.

Yes, the Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild will kick you out if your reputation gets too low. Technically so do Temples and whatnot too, but you cannot rejoin the Thieves Guild and the Brotherhood.
