vampire question dawnguard

When i became a vampire one of the tips said if you feed your vampire powers lesser but if you dont you get stronger.

Why isnt that the other way around, shouldnt you get weaker if you dont feed but stronger if you do

what is the incentive of feeding if it just makes me weaker? That is kind of disapointing.

This has been a discussion topic and debated throughout the series. It all comes down to TES having Vampirism as an infectious disease. It just works differently than the way our society has portrayed Vampires in recent storytelling. ( I say recent as in the past century or so. )

The constant intake of blood subsides the symptoms. If you don't feed the disease intensifies and you turn into a monster.

I sort if see it as this, the longer you go without feeding, you grow stronger but also at the risk of going insane and mad. Where as you feed, you "retain" yourself.

Way I roleplay it is that blood is the currency of the soul. The vampire has access to powers a mortal, that has a soul, cannot use for the vampire itself has a disease of a soul. So when a vampire takes blood it "reinvigorates" part of its own soul thus reducing the ability to use certain powers or a power to a certain degree.

The closer the earthly tie (the stronger the connection is to the soul) the weaker the dark magic.

Ok thanks, I guess it makes sense the way they do it for their lore, its just funny listening to that Vampire Lord guy talk how you are a lion among sheep, and how they are always feeding on people, but the more you feed the weaker you get. Ill have to look up one of those old threads and read it.
