Returning to Skyrim - help getting the TES-feel ba

Post » Tue Jul 16, 2013 10:33 am

I played quite a bit if Skyrim at launch, but grew tired of it quicker than I thought. Its not that I think its a bad game by any means, its just that I struggled finding the TES feel. I want to give it another go since there is still lots I havent done in the game. Any tips on how to rediscover and appreciate this game as a proper TES game?

dive into lore

I hear dungeon diving is pretty popular in the TES series

A shameless self quote, I know, but it reflects points that I would be duplicating here. Even if the initial intent was to suggest direction for a new player...

It really depends ultimately on you. Someone mentioned getting the dragonborn dlc. You could do that or perhaps even get all the dlc. You could roleplay something you find interesting, you can do what you want.

What I'm doing as I just got back into it after a break is I finally upgraded to skse and sky ui so I'm using all sorts of mods I didn't use till now. I also rolled a char and opened the console and typed tmm 1. Gave myself all the map markers. This time around it's less about finishing quest lines for me than just popping into places and just taking them in and clearing them out. Some quests provide nice distraction but there is plenty to do just ignoring them.

As I said it depends on your play style and what you want from the game on this play through.

It also depends whether you are playing on pc or console as my ideas won't work on console. Find somethings you like about the game and focus on them for a while.

It's a game you shouldn't have to force yourself to play it. If you don't enjoy it that's up to you.

If you have it on PC, there are heaps of very well made mods now that add extra missions and extra areas to explore. One such mod that I would highly recommend is Falskaar. The guys behind it said it adds at least an extra 20 hours of gameplay to the game, and best of all...it's an entirely new area with new characters with custom dialogue made by the makers themselves.

So yeah...if you really want more out of this game and you're a PC player, all I can say is MOD MOD MOD!
